Next Half of Your Pregnancy: What to Expect

What to Expect for the Next Half of Your Pregnancy
Here's what you can expect for the next half of your pregnancy.
Baby's Growth
During the second half of your pregnancy, your baby's growth will continue at an amazing pace. Here are some key milestones and developments to look forward to:
  • Size and weight: By week 19, your baby is about the size of a mango, measuring around 6 inches long and weighing around 8.5 ounces.
  • Sensory development: Your baby's senses, such as hearing and touch, are becoming more refined. They can now hear your voice and respond to external stimuli.
  • Organ development: Your baby's organs, including the lungs, heart, and brain, are maturing and becoming more functional.
  • Movement: As your baby grows stronger, you'll feel more pronounced movements and kicks, bringing you moments of joy and connection.
Your Changing Body
As your pregnancy progresses, your body will undergo significant changes to accommodate your growing baby. Here are some physical changes you may experience during the second half of your pregnancy:
  • Belly growth: Your belly will continue to expand, and you'll start to notice your baby's movements more prominently.
  • Breast changes: Your breasts may continue to grow in size and prepare for breastfeeding. You might experience tenderness and notice changes in your nipple area.
  • Weight gain: It's normal to gain weight during pregnancy as your body nurtures your growing baby. Remember, every woman's weight gain journey is unique and individual.
Nurturing Your Well-Being
As you progress through the second half of your pregnancy, it's crucial to prioritize your well-being and seek support when needed. Here are some self-care tips to help you navigate this exciting time:
  • Healthy habits: Continue to eat a well-balanced diet, stay hydrated, and engage in regular exercise approved by your healthcare provider.
  • Rest and relaxation: Listen to your body's signals and make time for rest and relaxation. Proper sleep and stress management are vital for your well-being.
  • Emotional support: Reach out to your partner, family, and friends for emotional support. Joining prenatal classes or connecting with other expectant mothers can also provide valuable support and advice.

I go in next Friday for a viability scan. I’ll be 5weeks 5days. This is due to an ectopic pregnancy last year. What can I expect to see? The nurse I spoke to said it would just be to see if baby is in my uterus…

Only difference is you’ll probably start showing sooner and feeling more sooner than your first since your uterus has already housed a baby. Congrats ❤️

Yes you'll hear your babys heart beat and they will do an internal ultrasound. It doesn't hurt it's just cold (:
