Frequent urination, a pregnancy symptom

Frequent urination
This is when you need to urinate more often due to the growing uterus putting pressure on the bladder.

Is it normal?
Frequent urination during pregnancy is a very normal and common experience, and there's no need to worry!

Your body is undergoing a lot of changes to support the growth of your baby, and one of these changes is increased frequency of urination.

This is because the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is increasing, which increases blood flow to your pelvic area.

As your uterus expands to accommodate your growing baby (not to mention baby's position), it puts pressure on your bladder, reducing its capacity and making you need to go to the bathroom more often.

Additionally, the increased blood volume during pregnancy leads to more fluid being filtered through your kidneys and into your bladder.

All of these changes are a natural part of pregnancy and nothing to worry about.

In fact, frequent urination is a sign that your body is doing a fantastic job supporting your baby's growth.
Prevent and care
Frequent urination is a common symptom of pregnancy, caused by increased pressure on the bladder. It's important to manage frequent urination to avoid discomfort and potential complications.
  • Stay well-hydrated but avoid excessive fluid intake close to bedtime.
  • Empty your bladder completely when you urinate.
  • Practice Kegel exercises to help strengthen pelvic floor muscles.
Kegel exercises can also help strengthen pelvic floor muscles, which may alleviate some of the urgency.

When to consult?
You should consult a doctor if you experiences frequent urination accompanied by any of the following symptoms:
  • strong odor
  • pain or burning during urination
  • cloudy or bloody urine
  • if you feel pressure in your lower belly or pelvis
These symptoms could indicate a urinary tract infection or other medical condition that needs to be addressed.

Additionally, if frequent urination interferes with daily activities or causes discomfort, it is best to seek medical advice.

Supposedly 6week. I have the tender breast still, occasionally nausea but no frequent urination. I have not had an ultrasound yet. Anyone else without frequent urination? Trying not to freak out or stress about every little thing. I prayed to get pass 5 weeks because my last pregnancy in February was a chemical. 🤷🏽‍♀️. So far so good.

I didn’t start getting frequent urination until like 12 weeks so I wouldn’t be too worried about that :)
