Itching, a pregnancy symptom

Itching
You may experience itching on various parts of your stretching skin. It can be caused by various factors, including hormonal changes, dry skin, or pregnancy-specific conditions such as cholestasis.

Using moisturizers and cool compresses can help alleviate this symptom.

Is it normal?
Itching during pregnancy is normal and usually nothing to worry about. However, if the itching becomes severe, it could be a sign of a larger issue and should be reported to your healthcare provider.
Prevent and care
Proper management of itching, such as using mild soaps and avoiding hot showers, can help alleviate discomfort.
  • Use mild, fragrance-free moisturizers to keep your skin hydrated.
  • Avoid hot showers and opt for lukewarm water.
  • Consult with a healthcare provider if itching is severe or accompanied by a rash.
If you experience signs of cholestasis such as jaundice, dark urine, lack of appetite, nausea, light stool, depression, or intense itchiness, including itching feet, it's crucial to consult with your healthcare provider.

When to consult?
Mild itching can be relieved by using unscented moisturizers or taking cool baths.

However, if you experience severe itching, especially on your hands and feet or accompanied by jaundice symptoms, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Because your skin is stretching at a quick rate it tends to get itchy and that's normal just like stretch Marks. Just keep moisturizing. Also the temperature of the water and over use of soap can dry your skin out. Try using a moisturizing soap and not every day.

I wonder if you're getting the PUPPS pregnancy rash. If so, order the grandpa's pine tar soap from Amazon. Pupps will drive you crazy! If it jumps from one place to another soon, that's probably it.

This started happening on my stomach, I started putting Vaseline w/ shea butter but the best thing that helps is coconut oil for my skin, I ran out so that’s why I used the Vaseline for now but I’m about to buy a giant thing of coconut oil, it helps so much

Might be a yeast infection or if you tried new soaps or wore something for the first time and forgot to wash it. I don’t think it would cause you to lose your baby. Call your OB and get with them about it
