Decrease in Fetal Movement Space

Decrease in Fetal Movement Space
As you reach the 36th week of your pregnancy, a noticeable change occurs in the dynamics of your baby’s movements.
Due to the significant growth of your baby, the space within the womb becomes more confined, leading to a decrease in the room available for fetal movement.
Understanding this change is important for expectant mothers to know what to expect in terms of fetal activity.
Impact of Fetal Growth on Movement
  • Size and Space: By week 36, your baby has grown substantially and occupies most of the space in the womb. This reduced space naturally limits the range and nature of movements your baby can make.
  • Change in Movement Type: You might notice a shift from sharp kicks and jabs to more rolling and stretching movements. These movements might feel different but are a normal adjustment to the limited space.
Monitoring Fetal Movements
  • Importance of Movement Tracking: Despite the decrease in space, it's crucial to continue monitoring fetal movements. Regular movement is a sign of fetal well-being.
  • What to Expect: You may feel more pressure and stretching sensations as your baby shifts position. The frequency of movements such as kicks may decrease, but the overall pattern of activity should remain consistent.
Understanding Normal Patterns
  • Variations in Activity: Each baby has its own pattern of activity, and it’s important to be familiar with what is normal for your baby. An overall decrease in movement space doesn't mean that movements should stop entirely.
  • When to Seek Advice: If you notice a significant decrease in movements or a change in the pattern that concerns you, it’s important to contact your healthcare provider for advice and reassurance.
The decrease in fetal movement space in the 36th week of pregnancy is a natural consequence of your baby's growth and development.
While the types of movements may change, the presence of regular movement remains a key indicator of fetal health.

Anyone experience a decrease in the big kicks and movements when baby dropped. I still feel ALOT of movement but now it’s all below my bellybutton and more just like the early “flutters” instead of the full blown kicks and punch’s I was literally feeling yesterday. I’m 32weeks with my 2nd.

She sleeps up to 20 hours so there will be times where you won’t feel her until she ready to move .. you can rub your belly , sit your hand in a certain spot , drink something she likes .. etc!! & see what she do , I’m pretty sure she’s ok & she’s jus resting , growing & getting stronger ..

So I’m 21 weeks today and I’ve noticed the last 4 days a decrease in my babys movement. Anybody else ? I’m kinda worried. She’s usually active here and there and at night too but lately I get sluggish movements and some just almost like a jittery feeling but not much. Sometimes I get scared because it won’t happen at all and I just worry she’s not doing good :/

Yes, but it’s not like full on movement so now I’m not sure if it’s my stomach digesting food or my bby. If that makes sense

Tuesday I noticed a decrease of fetal movement and bad contractions, called my doctors office and it took them hours to get back to me because they were so busy. When they did call me back they had me come to the hospital to get evaluated, I was 1 cm but baby was breech so my doctor agreed to do the c section at 11:30pm and we were able to welcome our beautiful, baby girl Elizabeth at 11:47pm on November 8, 2022 at 38 weeks and 1 day ❤️

A lot less fetal movement at 35w its been three days and she barley moves anymore. I don’t even think it’s 10 movements in two hours. Could this be normal? I’m a ftm. Any stories would be greatly appreciated.
