Your body at 8 weeks of pregnancy

Your Body at 8 Weeks
At eight weeks, your pregnancy becomes increasingly evident through various symptoms, though a quarter of women may not experience any at this stage

This variance in symptomatology is perfectly normal and should not be a cause for concern.

Symptoms of the week
Breast changes

Mood swings

Food aversions

No symptoms at all

Breast changes: A common occurrence as the body prepares for lactation, marked by soreness, swelling, or sensitivity.

Mood Swings: Hormonal shifts may cause emotional variability. Indeed mood-regulating neurotransmitters can be affected by changes in your hormone levels. Most common during the first trimester between 6 to 10 weeks and again in the third trimester, as your body prepares for birth.

Food Aversions: Sensory changes may lead to a dislike of certain foods.

No symptoms: A notable percentage of women may not report any symptoms, which is considered normal.

Hormonal changes can lead to mood swings and heightened emotions. Your body is working hard to support your baby's development.

Is it normal?
  • Digestive Slowdown: Elevated progesterone levels can decelerate the digestive process, causing constipation.
  • Hormonal Mood Influences: The rapid hormonal changes can impact mood and emotional state.
  • Sensory Aversions: Heightened olfactory sensitivity, influenced by hormonal adjustments, may lead to food aversions.
  • Urinary Frequency: The growing uterus exerts additional pressure on the bladder, leading to increased urination.
  • Elevated Fatigue: The substantial energy diverted towards fetal growth may result in pronounced tiredness.
  • Vaginal Discharge Increase: A common and normal response to pregnancy-induced physiological changes.

Hang in there, mom-to-be, you're doing an amazing job.

These pregnancy symptoms are just temporary, before you know it you'll be holding your little bundle of joy in your arms.

I only had abt 4?? Maybe 5 ultrasounds and 3 of which was my last couple months of being pregnant & it was only bc I had marginal cord insertion so I was considered “high risk”. The less ultrasounds the better honestly bc I don’t think they’re good for the lil bbs but you’ll def j cherish the ultrasound pics even more!! & not for nothing they’re harder to see once they get bigger anyways bc they get lower into your hips 😭 my last ultrasound I only got a pic of her feet & my placenta🤣 but!! I really recommend once you’re a bit closer to your due date to get the 3d ultrasound done cus those are the best 🥹

That's normal. You can go get private ultrasounds. But ya the doctor will only do 2 unless there's concerns. I'm 35 so considered high risk .. once I hit 35 weeks I had an ultrasound scheduled every week.

Are any moms showing at 8w I wanna see something… I’m feeling more bloated then ever and tomorrow is my first on over the phone appointment with an OB I’m nervous but not nervous, I guess I’m just anxious more than anything,… Also I’m going with the other app till I get my first ultrasound cause it says the same thing If not a day and week slow on this app, so I got pregnancy+ and I used the calculator on the web to see where I’m at and it’s saying the same thing that the pregnancy+ is saying so that’s two of the same thing that says I’m 8w… so tomorrow hopefully I can get an ultrasound sometime towards the beginning of next month, but until then I’m 8w and 5d pregnant

I have been spotting off and on my whole pregnancy and I’m 17 weeks! My baby girl is healthy and happy. I had a subchorionic hemorrhagic in my early pregnancy but that went away. I’m wishing you luck mama!
