  • Heart Visibility: The heart, now visible via scan, marks a significant milestone in your baby's development.

  • Embryo to Fetus Transition: In just a few weeks, the embryo will graduate to fetus status, entering a new phase of development.

  • Rapid Heartbeat: The baby's heart beats at about 120-160 times per minute, a rate significantly faster than an adult's, showcasing the vitality of early development.

  • Brain Cell Production: Astonishingly, your embryo is generating approximately 100 new brain cells every minute, indicating rapid brain development.

  • Complex Organs: Alongside brain complexity, the heart and a permanent set of kidneys are under development, highlighting the intricate processes unfolding within.

  • Limb Formation: The formation of arm and leg joints, along with nascent hand and feet structures resembling little paddles, illustrates the physical shaping of your baby.

  • Umbilical Cord Formation: A crucial development this week is the emergence of the umbilical cord, a vital lifeline that facilitates the flow of nutrients and oxygen and the elimination of waste between you and your baby.
Imagine your baby as the size of a lentil, with early ultrasounds possibly being scheduled to monitor healthy development closely.

Helping your baby's development
  • Prenatal Yoga: Engage in prenatal yoga to stay active, alleviate stress, and support your baby's physical and mental development. This practice may also offer beneficial techniques for labor.

  • Self-Massage: Pregnancy can exert considerable physical strain, so consider treating yourself to a massage to ease discomfort. This relaxation benefits both you and your baby.

  • Adequate Rest: Ensuring sufficient sleep is vital for your health and your baby's growth. Don't hesitate to take naps if you're feeling particularly fatigued.

  • Sunlight Exposure: Spending time in natural light can enhance your mood and energy, providing an additional benefit of vitamin D for you and your baby. Always apply sunscreen to protect your skin during these moments.

My little mamas is about to be 6 months on Tuesday and I can't believe it. 6 months went by so fast out the womb but when I was pregnant, 6 months felt like 9 ok. Lol anyway my baby is the sweetest little girl I swear. Her and my 1st born were the easiest babies ever. 6 months equals 6 months exclusively breastfeeding and I even went back to work and have been pumping and supplying. I think we're in it for the long run now.
