Baby’s Changes Overview
Open 3D Baby to see all changes
  • Hand Dominance: An interesting observation at this stage is that three-quarters of babies exhibit a preference for their right hand.

  • Audible Heartbeat: The baby's heart is now strong enough that its beats may be detectable during your next ultrasound scan.

  • Fetal Movement: Though too subtle to feel, your baby's limbs are beginning to move, thanks to the development of tiny muscles.

  • Physical Development: The baby's appearance is becoming increasingly human-like each day, with the spinal cord tail receding, the head straightening, ears growing, and toes becoming visible.

  • Organ Development: Essential organs, including the kidneys, lungs, and liver, are in the early stages of formation.

  • Sensory Development: The heart beats at a rapid pace (around 150 beats per minute), blood vessels are functioning, and the brain begins to assume control over bodily functions.

  • Taste Bud Formation: The foundational elements of your baby's taste buds are forming, setting the stage for future culinary preferences.
Visualize your growing baby as the size of a kidney bean, a comparison that underscores the significant development underway. This period typically coincides with initial blood tests during your first prenatal appointment.

Helping your baby's development
  • Maintain a Positive Outlook: Strive to keep your environment and mindset positive and stress-free, fostering a healthy development for your baby.

  • Abstain from Harmful Substances: Alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drugs pose risks to your baby's health; avoiding these substances is crucial.

  • Nutritional Care: The umbilical cord serves as the conduit for nutrients from you to your baby. Emphasize a balanced diet rich in proteins, grains, fruits, and vegetables.

  • Prenatal Vitamins: Opt for prenatal vitamins high in folic acid, essential for your baby's brain development.
Medication Caution: Only use over-the-counter and prescribed medications as recommended by your healthcare provider to avoid potential risks to your baby.

How are you already 8 weeks old? Almost a whole two months… It feels like it was just yesterday I was in the hospital being induced, like it was only last night you came into this world and I held you for the very first time in my arms. Time is flying by so fast, my sweet baby girl! 🥹❤️😭
