How to calculate when you are ovulating?

To conceive a baby, many women watch for their fertility window and monitor their ovulation. Understanding ovulation: how to calculate your fertility window?

  • In a woman, a cycle can go from 21 to 35 days, with an average of 28 days.
  • Don't be fooled: ovulation does not happen in the middle of the cycle!
  • Rather, to find out when you are ovulating, you need to subtract 14 days from the length of your cycle.
  • Ovulation lasts only for 24 hours, but the fertility window lasts 5 days: it usually starts 4 days before ovulation and ends 24 hours after.
  • If you have irregular cycles, you can rely on the signs your body sends you or take an ovulation test.

I use the premom app. When your period is over, test your LH levels once a day and take a pic of it inside the app. It will determine your levels based on the picture. Once your level hits 1.0 you are about to ovulate. Once your level reaches 0.45, start testing twice a day so you won't miss your peak. It will shoot up fast for 1 day then drop back down fast. You should have sex on the day of you peak and the day after. It is also good to have sex everyother day before this peak occurs being the sperm can live in the uterus for 3-5 days. If you have any other questions feel free to message me and I will answer them the best I can. I will post a pic of what my chart looked like this month so you can see the peak levels.

Normal fluctuations through your cycle. Lh is a different level throughout each day. Only focus on the surge when positive.

I’m not sure on how to read these all the time. It says that I peaked this afternoon. Then I took another test when I got home and it went up again but it still said I peaked this afternoon?! Need help understanding what this means and when my ovulation should be starting.

It’s a good sign. I’m a serial tester so if it stays elevated you may be building hcg levels. Give it 3 more days minimum before a hcg test.
