Why is nighttime breastfeeding important?

For the first few months after giving birth, your baby will need to nurse both day and night for nourishment and reassurance.

  • On average, your baby will be hungry every three hours. Daytime feedings are easy, but nighttime feeding is not.
  • If your baby associates feeding with sleeping, he'll need to be nursed back to sleep in the middle of the night.
  • You should also know that prolactin production is higher at night, so your milk will be more nourishing for your baby. This is a good reason not to skip the night feed!

Okay so pregnancy hunger is crazy.... But when you start breastfeeding, it will have you eating four bowls of cereal in the middle of the night..

Cluster feeding is probably what lil peanut is doing. That's a thinggg when u BF. By 2 months My son was 15 Lbs due to the cluster feeding. But should slow down... will cluster feed again on and off when they're newborns.

So my baby is EBF and she gets a great 4-6 hrs of sleep at night. I however don’t. I sleep, but I tend to fall asleep at around 8 am which sucks cause I wake up between 2-4pm. I’m wanting to know if any one has info on taking sleeping pills while breastfeeding. I did once just to sleep but I’m not trying to implicate my breastfeeding journey since it’s going so well. I just want to get back into a good sleeping routine 🥲 Also the pills are the generic Walmart brand.

Anyone know if your period returns while breastfeeding ? Mine hasn't yet, and I definitely don't mind it. I heard if you continue to feed or pump at night that it may not return at all until your completely finished nursing.

I think I had one right after my post parptum bleeding, but not a hundred percent sure since I didn't have any cramps with it and I've always had cramps with my periods. But I'm also breastfeeding

I need help…. My daughter is a very light sleeper and she’s been waking up a lot at night. Any recommendations? I’m currently breastfeeding her and most of the time I think it’s not satisfying her but I’m getting almost a full bottle.

Are you my tablet and put on lullabies for my daughter so that way little sounds don’t wake her up or you could try getting a sound machine, I was breast-feeding, but now my daughter is formula fed I always make sure she takes a 4 ounce bottle before bed. If she is not rolling yet, you can also swaddle her that might help her sleep harder. My daughter is almost 6 months.

I would say try adding cereal to her bottles and getting a music box.

Last night was much better. For some reason she gets pretty stuffy at night so I’m gonna start clearing out her nose about 15 minutes before we put her down and she goes right to sleep. And in the last few days she’s gotten breastfeeding down so good it’s saved my sanity not having to pump every 2 hours lol

Try a humidifier in the room where she sleeps. It helped me when I was pregnant, I would get very stuffed up.

Try giving your sweet girl a nice warm bath with the lavender body wash to help😊

Does anyone have any advice on getting to sleep at night? I'm breastfeeding and my midwife told me that I couldn't take any sleep medication and my baby girl sleeps in the bed at night with us so I don't want to not be able to wake up if she gets hungry at night if I take medication. Some nights I either get no sleep at all or I get 3 hours of sleep and I'd end up sleeping all day and even if I don't sleep all day I still can't sleep at night when I am tired. It's hard to do school work and watch my 7 week old while my boyfriend's at work if I'm asleep during the day.

Unfortunately this is the way until they are about 3 months old. The way me and my husband did it is we took shifts. Anytime you can get sleep in, is what you gotta do. If baby is sleeping you be sleeping.

Literally had to wean my 1 year old around 8 weeks this pregnancy., I just couldn’t handle it., I become overly stimulated and irritable., I enjoyed our full year and 8 months of breastfeeding journey but this new baby wasn’t feeling it lol., we were gonna start weaning sometime now but pregnancy came first and pushed me to it., he’s officially a full month weaned 😩🎉

Hello! I have a question for all breastfeeding moms. My 3 month old son has started to sleep most of the night, now. He used to wake up every 2 hours to breastfeed. Now, I am not breastfeeding every 2 hours or pumping at night because he's not waking me up. So, my question is... to avoid a decrease in my milk supply, should I start pumping at night every 2 hours? I've noticed a decrease in my milk ever since he started to sleep more at night. #Help

Milk is about supply and demand. Pump every two hours if you don't want it decreasing, but he's getting what he needs so you don't really have to worry. Enjoy the extra sleep I'd say

My supply is dropping because of giving a bottle during the day if I have to run errands and what not. His pediatrician said that if I'm wanting to increase supply, pump 15 minutes on each breast every 2 hours. It's supply and demand so if you don't feed often, you'll start producing less. If you feed more often, you'll start to produce more.
