What is the pain associated with a C-section?

If you need to have a C-section during your delivery, you should know that it will take some time to recover from this common, but not trivial, operation.

  • Whether scheduled or performed as an emergency, a C-section can be painful to recover from, so it's best to plan ahead and be prepared for the recovery phase.
  • The pain associated with a C-section is often intense right after delivery, but it gradually diminishes over the following days and disappears completely after a few weeks.
  • Your doctor will prescribe painkillers, so don't hesitate to inform them regularly of your condition.

So does a C-section or vaginal birth hurt worse? I've only ever had a C-section so I don't know the pain associated with vaginal delivery. Anyways I know it hurts a lot for both of them but I'm just wondering :)

I only had a vaginal. So I can't say for personal experience but I would think they come with their own challenges 🤷‍♀️

Anyone have severe pain 5 weeks after c-section? It’s on my left side and mainly at night it feels like it did after I had my daughter

I have pain on my right side at times but I'm only 3 weeks postpardum. I just take my Motrin and switch sides when I lay down and nurse. Just take it easy Hun. This is my first c section since baby #5 was sunny side up, and my mom is on me about not doing anything for the first 2 months. With 6 kids it's hard but I am listening to her though.❤️❤️❤️

C section pain afterwards hurts, once the numbness wears off and the incision burning kinda. But I’m happy to say I’ve managed to get up out the bed and walk around some, plus my baby doing good

I didn’t have a c-section but my back had been so sore since giving birth but I’m seeing a physical therapist and chiropractor and that helps so much!
