11-day paternity leave
Men also have the right to enjoy the birth of their child. What does the law say about paternity leave?
- In France, employed fathers can request 11 days of paternity leave from their employer, in addition to the 3 days automatically granted for childbirth.
- In case of multiple births (twins, triplets, etc.), the duration of the leave increases to 18 days.
- This right also applies to men who adopt a child.
- Currently, paternity leave is optional, but the European Union is considering making it compulsory and extending its duration to encourage father involvement.
