Taking a blood test for gestational diabetes

To detect and see the evolution of gestational diabetes, we will check your blood sugar level by taking blood samples.

Gestational diabetes is one of the joys of pregnancy. It is caused by fluctuations in blood sugar levels during pregnancy and is detected with a test called OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) at 26 weeks of pregnancy. If the blood test confirms gestational diabetes, you will be advised to follow a balanced diet.

Regular blood sugar checks will be done during your pregnancy.

I failed both 1hr n 3 hr test. Diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Have to do finger prick 4 times a day. And my morning blood sugar (fasting) is always higher than 100 so they started me on insulin at night.

Let me tell y’all how God and the universe have been covering this pregnancy…baby boy passed his alpha-fetoprotein test with flying colors. My A1C is within normal range now so I am no longer considered to be in the Gestational Diabetic club!!!!! I don’t have to take the glucose test because I’m still going to check my glucose levels everyday ☺️. And I lost 10lbs…shout out to HG for that 😒. Overall we are healthy and I couldn’t ask for more.

So I have my gestational diabetics test on Saturday and I’m honestly terrified. Is there anything I should be worried about, my blood sugar dropping, getting light headed. Etc.????

Admitted to the hospital after doing blood work at doctor appointment. My blood sugar is high. They found that I have diabetes now. I'm 32 weeks and had my gestational diabetes test couple weeks ago, an I passed. Now I'm diabetic. Werid af.

Why did they admit you? I had gestational diabetes and my glucose was like 200 something. It was so high I didn't even have to take the 3 hour test. That's crazy that they said you passed. 😮

Has anyone here actually became diabetic due to the drink they give you for the gestational diabetes test?

Gestational diabetes is caused by issues with the placenta and your hormones due to being pregnant and has nothing to do with what you did or didn't do nor how you live your lifestyle. It's just harder for you body to produce natural insulin and harder for your body to digest carbs and sugars. Hope this helps 😊

I have a blood glucose test in a week. I'm assuming to check for gestational diabetes. Any tips on how to keep my levels where they need to be? Can't believe I'm 15 weeks already.😍

I am a diabetic and thankfully my sugars are sorta normal, won't know what my A1c is till tomorrow, hopefully can avoid insulin as I'm already on Blood thinner shots. But we shall see soon. It's hard to manage unmedicated so I just try to watch what I am eating.
