Symptoms of Gestational Diabetes

If you're wondering what causes gestational diabetes, we'll explain the symptoms of this pregnancy diabetes.

Don't panic, gestational diabetes, if properly monitored, will not cause complications. You can detect these symptoms accompanied by an increased thirst:

  • a regular need to pee
  • if you feel more tired than usual
  • and if your weight tends to yo-yo.

If you have any doubts, talk to your doctor and they will do a screening test!

Have they set up a meeting with a specialist or dietician? Have they ordered you a glucose meter? Limit your carbs, but not totally eliminate them because they're still important for you and baby. Balance out the carbs you eat with plenty of protein and healthy fats. Eat something about every 2-3 hours during the day. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. It can vary depending on the person but usually the carb goal is around breakfast 30g, lunch 45-60g, dinner 45-60g, snacks 15-30g. Protein! Avoid sugary drinks and desserts. Drink lots of water. Exercise after meals helps burn off the glucose.

I was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago also. Honestly it’s been a little rough adjusting my diet and keeping my numbers down. Remembering to prick your fingers 4 times a day and everything and I’m getting out on medication next week. I wish you the best and hopefully it’s not too hard on you 💜

I have it and have to take insulin and get weekly ultrasounds but as long as you take a nutrition class and manage what you eat you should be okay.

I personally have had to poke myself 4x a day. I had to take a medicine to try and get my fasting numbers under control. Both dosages of that failed. I now take nightly insulin to control them. I’m being induced at 38 weeks due to her size and fluid being boarder line too much

I failed my 3 hour glucose test. I have gestational diabetes ☹️🥺 Has anyone else out there been diagnosed with gestational diabetes now or in the past? If so tell me about it. Was your baby ok? I feel so sad. (I’m 16 weeks + 2 days btw)

Is very upsetting but don’t be sad, I failed mine too after failing now I have to monitor my sugar. I have to take my sugar fasting first thing in the morning and one hour after every meal. I had an appointment with a nutritionist and she told me what I can eat and I can’t eat and my new diet. Baby will be okay as long as you keep your sugar controlled and the numbers are good

I was diagnosed with this pregnancy I took the lil 2 hour class and then I did the poke of the finger for about 2 months everytime it was a green light so my doctor told me I don't have to do it anymore but I never felt any different
