Beginning of labor: how to recognize the signs?

As the big day approaches, there are many signs that help the mother-to-be to recognize the start of labor.

  • The first signs appear between two and four weeks before delivery.
  • You will feel a decrease in pressure as the baby lowers and the uterus pushes less on your diaphragm.
  • You may notice a thickening of vaginal discharge, looking like raw egg white.
  • Some moms-to-be lose the mucous plug, which indicates that the cervix is dilating.
  • You may have more frequent bowel movements because prostaglandin, the hormone that helps the uterus mature, is also the hormone that stimulates the bowel.
  • If these many signs show the preparation of the body for childbirth, only waters break and frequent contractions indicate the real beginning of labor.
  • Be careful not to confuse these signs with false labor. If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to call the maternity ward.

I agree. I've seen so many people speak of it. I added this link so people can see it and think about first talking to their doctors and getting the okay first to make sure it's safe for them.

Did any of you have bleeding (not the mucus plug) but like bleeding right b4 labor or was that the start of labor? I am bleeding again after having more mild contractions but idk if I should be seen because of it or is it a normal sign of early labor?

For all of you moms who had their babies 37-39 weeks, were you induced or did labor start on its own?

How many of you were pretty nauseous and queasy before going into labor or at the start of labor? I’m thinking this may be beginning, as I’m cramping up and just feeling so swollen and blech ❤️❤️❤️
