Childbirth: how do you know when you are in labor?

As a first-time mom, you may be worried about whether you can tell the difference between true and false labor. Don't panic, just follow the guide.

  • Your contractions will be painful and regular.
  • They will first appear every 30 minutes, becoming more and more intense and longer, from 15 seconds to sometimes a minute.
  • Then, these contractions will get closer together, every 5 minutes on average, lasting 30 to 45 seconds each.
  • Some moms-to-be break their water. It can be sudden or constant, sometimes leaking for several hours.
  • In all cases, painful and regular contractions or water loss should lead you to the maternity ward where you will be taken care of by the midwives who will carry out a complementary examination.

I'm 4 days past due now, and have been having false labor contractions the past 3 days. I feel like he's ready to pop at any moment, but he's just not, it's not even true labor contractions and I'm a little worried. I don't have the best insurance and not enough money to go for a doctor visit just to be sent home. Any advice or tips????

Its never a waist of time. Baby can go into stress with contractions you need to have them measured to see if they are productive and be checked for crystals that show when labor is starting. Better safe than sorry❤️ never a waist❤️

Does anyone else dream about their labor and how they envision things happening at the hospital? Last night I had a dream that I had my girls and the Dr said congratulations here they are and I told her omg I didn’t even feel nothing and she said yeah it was the quickest labor ever and you did amazing. I was so happy, it felt so real so praying on it that it comes true when it’s time. I can’t wait to meet my girls. 💕 #dreaming #labor #sweetdreams #feltreal #twingirls #30weeks

I have no clue, my doctor said it all depends. Birth plans don’t really exist, you may have one but your babies may have another plan for you😀

You have to time them! I thought I was having Braxton hicks contractions and I was wrong! I just had my baby at 36 weeks about a hour ago!

Is it true after losing mucus plug to expect labor im 31 weeks and I’ve been dealing with real labor contractions for weeks and they gave me medicine to hold of the contractions which has now caused me to be very Ill and I can no longer take the medicine, and I just lost my mucus plug. Should I get hospital ready?

Yes have a bag packed for the hospital!! just in case but I lost myn weeks before I went into labor so it doesn’t always mean that 😊 definitely go to the hospital if you feel you have to though trust your gut

Not sure if it's a sign of labor but it is common for pregnancy in general and there is a lot going on down there so maybe
