Sleeping on your right side while pregnant

Are you used to sleeping on your right side? Now that you're pregnant, you'll have to think about turning to your left side. Here's why!

The reason is mainly anatomical: the vena cava, which runs along the right side of the uterus, can be compressed if you sleep on your right side. This position will become unpleasant especially around the 6th or 7th month of pregnancy. It causes a feeling of suffocation or discomfort: listen to your body, which will help you find the right position. Use pillows to find the most comfortable position!

I never knew how important it was to sleep on my left side instead of my right during pregnancy . I’ve always slept on my right side way before getting pregnant now I have to force myself to sleep on the left side which isn’t much comfortable. And throughout the night/morning I find myself sleeping on my right side 😩😩 This is my fourth pregnancy so I don’t know why I am worried

My doctor said you can sleep on either side and even on your back until 24 weeks then you should avoid your back. I just hit 24 weeks and I don’t know how I’m gonna stop from sleeping on my back it’s honestly the most comfortable for me 😢

Yesterday had to go get some memory foam for my bed cause I sleep in my pillow to stay off my right side because I didn’t know you couldn’t sleep on your right side. Because studies said “Previous studies have linked back and right-side sleeping with a higher risk of stillbirth, reduced fetal growth, low birth weight, and preeclampsia, a life-threatening high blood pressure disorder that affects the mother.” But my lower back been hurting for sleeping on my left side.. so this memory foam better be my best friend!!

I rotate I don’t stay on my right side I think that it’s like the same thing with laying on your back I think it saying that it’s dangerous meaning if you were to do it all night

Is it true sleeping on my right side is also bad, and that I should only sleep on my left side?

The baby gets the best blood flow laying on left side, but hard to just lay on one side! Long as you are switching sides through the night you are fine! I sleep on my right side more bc it comes natural when I wake up to pee i switch to the left. The baby still gets blood flow on the right just not as much!! ❤️

Sleeping only on my left side is becoming soooo uncomfortable. Of course i’m use to sleeping on my right side. I spoke with my OB and she says sleeping on the right presses on the vena cava. So now i’m super paranoid about it. Ugh i’m so ready for december 😩.

my left side is now getting so uncomfortable to sleep on so i turn on my right side but not much because i have anxiety of sleeping on my right side because i read the right side is not really the best because it doesn’t really give the baby enough blood flow like the left side so someone please tell me is it safe to sleep on your right side at 30 weeks

Girl everything online is not true I always sleep on left and right, mostly right because I’m comfortable. My baby fetal movements are still viable and heartbeat is still normal every doctor visit.

So …not long ago I was involved in a drive by shooting while driving my car and my left arm got very damaged and stays in pain a lot. I read everywhere that I should be sleeping on my left side but of course I can’t. 😩 So sleeping on my right side is my go to although nothing is comfortable for me right now with injury and the pregnancy but I’m grateful for life itself. I wonder all the time how is this right side sleeping affecting baby🤔🫤 #IDontKnow #Sleeping

The left side gives you more of a blood flow rather than the right side

I keep reading about how it's bad to sleep on your right side..and that you're supposed to sleep on the left while pregnant. I've been having trouble sleeping on the left side lately and wind up switching throughout the night. Anyone else?

You can sleep on either side, the right side is just preferable.
