Delivery Room: What to Bring?

Delivery Room: What to Bring?
To ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable and smooth birthing experience, here are some essential items to include in your hospital bag:
Comfort is Key
Labor and delivery can be an intense and transformative experience, so it's crucial to prioritize your comfort. Pack items that will help you relax and make the environment feel more like home:
  • Cozy Robe and Slippers: Having a soft robe and comfortable slippers will make you feel cozy and at ease during your stay.
  • Pillows: Bring your own pillows to create a familiar and comfortable sleeping environment.
  • Favorite Music or Playlist: Music has a powerful effect on our mood, so create a playlist of your favorite songs to help you relax and stay focused during labor.
Supportive Gear
Having the right support during labor can make all the difference. Consider including these supportive items in your hospital bag:
  • Birth Ball: A birth ball can provide relief and support during labor. It can help with movement, positioning, and relieving back pain.
  • Massage Tools: Bring along massage tools like a massage ball or a handheld massager to help ease any tension or discomfort during labor.
  • TENS Machine: A TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machine is a device that uses mild electric currents to provide pain relief during labor. Talk to your healthcare provider about using one during your birthing process.
Nourishment and Hydration
Keeping your energy levels up and staying hydrated is important during labor. Pack snacks and drinks to sustain you throughout the birthing journey:
  • Healthy Snacks: Pack nutritious snacks like energy bars, fruits, nuts, and crackers to keep your energy levels stable during labor.
  • Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is crucial, so bring a reusable water bottle to sip on water or your preferred hydrating beverages.
  • Electrolyte Drinks: Consider packing some electrolyte drinks to replenish your body's electrolyte levels and keep you hydrated.
Capture the Moment
The birth of your child is a precious and unforgettable moment. Don't forget to capture these special memories by including these items:
  • Camera or Phone: Ensure you have a fully charged camera or phone to capture beautiful photos and videos of the birthing process and your baby's first moments.
  • Charger: Bring a charger and any necessary cables to keep your devices powered up throughout your hospital stay.

I never have my family in the room either, I feel like I'd get too irritated so don't feel bad! Just do whatever feels right to you 😊

I like how everyone is saying oh they gonna be in the delivery room and they will be choosing the outfit that I bring him home in umm no first of all I only want my mom and boyfriend in the room and I decide wtf he wears bc I’m the mom not y’all if y’all want y’all own baby go make one😭 let’s not be bossey bc it’s my first baby and it’s my baby and the dad makes the decision to😑I already picked an outfit that I want him in and nobody will be in the delivery room I understand it’s my boyfriend grandma and sister but that’s really weird asf my dad won’t even be in the delivery room tf that’s so mf weird

So I got a question! I have my hospital bag ready and I was wondering if I am supposed to take them up into the hospital right when I get there or wait for them to put me into the delivery room? incase it’s a false alarm …And for the car seat too do I wait til after the baby is born to bring it from the car?

You can bring your hospital bags with you , & you can leave the car seat in the car whomever picking you up the nurses will bring you and baby down to your car . But the car seat is totally up to you

Ladies, what is something you highly recommend to bring in your hospital delivery bag? 🧐

A warm blanket cuz the hospital is always freezing and they only give you thin ass sheets, a heating pad for those after delivery contractions, (they're worse than labor pains) a comfy pair of slippers, unless you don't mind those ugly hospital socks, a phone charger, snacks bc you will get hungry in between meals, and your own toothbrush/toothpaste, lotion and soap cuz their stuff is whack!

Change of clothes for at least 3 days. Personal hygiene, comfy shoes, disposable underwear for you. Her bag should have diapers, wipes, quite a few options in clothing, socks, bows, hats, receiving blanket, specific bottles if you don’t want to use hospital ones
