The maternity suitcase for mom: what to pack?

If the mom-to-be has filled her maternity suitcase with the well-being of her baby in mind, she should as well think about her own comfort. But what should she put in her suitcase for the big day?

  • Your medical file with your last ultrasounds, medical exams, health insurance card, family record book if needed, and blood group card.
  • Above all, bring a large t-shirt or nightgown for the delivery room, and a pair of socks and a cardigan if you are cold!
  • Expect to wait a few hours before the baby arrives: music, books, and magazines will be your allies.
  • For your stay, plan on four comfortable outfits such as leggings and a t-shirt (open to the neckline if you plan to breastfeed).
  • Two nightgowns and two or three pairs of socks.
  • Your toiletry kit with shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, moisturizer, hairbrush, lip balm, and makeup.
  • Disposable panties with highly absorbent sanitary napkins.
  • Towels and a bathrobe.
  • If you are breastfeeding, two nursing bras, breast pads, and a lanolin-based ointment will be needed.
  • If you’re having a C-section, bring two extra outfits!

Hi everyone! I'm a 19 year old first time mom. Currently, over 6 weeks pregnant. I'm excited but also very nervous. Any tips (diet, vitamins, exercises, and so on...) or websites with affordable maternity clothing?.

Heyyy ❤️ congratulations 🎁🎉🎉🎉… def prenatal vitamins (with good amount of folic acid), calcium, vitamin D3, omega. Also I take iron, midwives recommended (this was during 2nd trimester), vitamin d3 I’ve been taking for some years since Dr said I had deficiency and most people do. … the healthier you eat the better :).. just what is recommended is to stay away from raw fish/meat. And really wash your greens (lettuce, spinach, kale). … as far as clothes, girl to be honest Ross and Walmart have surprisingly nice soft shirts (especially Walmart ?! Shocker to me) and very affordable/economical price. …. Also really great place to get educated, on YouTube, “built to birth” by Bridget. She’s super intelligent and knows her stuff. And teaches a wealth of knowledge. And then, pray Mama to be :) pray for your little one and all of you!! God bless you❤️🥰🌷 I hope this helped. There’s prob a lot left out but this is what I can think of now lol

I had my second daughter a few weeks ago and I ended up only buying a car seat a bassinet some clothes diapers and wipes swaddle blankets basically just all of the basic needs I did not get a changing table or anything like that I don't find it necessary and never used one i would get a dresser or something though to keep all the baby stuff in and pacifiers and bottles and get a breast pump if you're going to be breastfeeding and nipple cream and breast pads just basically all of the necessities because other than that I regret getting extra things with my first daughter also you may want to stock up on pads for yourself I have already gone through the most three packs of pads and that's not counting the ones the hospital gave me during postpartum bleeding.

Crib, stroller, changing table are the big things. Things like clothes, make sure you got a few in all sizes because babies grow quicker than you might expect. We just bought a bunch of gender neutral onesies for when our daughter is still real young because we know she won’t care what she’s wearing and we won’t have to feel bad if she get something on some cute clothes and ruins it. We also started collecting diapers and wipes and storing them in the linen closet. As for other little things, we just keep buying one or two small things like pacifiers and bottles whenever we’re out to slowly build a collection for when she is born
