Breastfeeding and breast pain

If you experience pain when you breastfeed, here are some tips to help you understand the possible causes.

  • Ejection of milk sometimes causes discomfort for breastfeeding moms, ranging from a slight tingling sensation to unpleasant pain.
  • In most cases, this sensation only lasts as long as it takes your body to get used to its new functions!
  • If you are producing a lot of milk, you may feel a twinge.
  • A sharp pain does not necessarily mean it's serious, but talking to your doctor will tell you more.

My baby girl came September 28th 2023 I was breastfeeding but decided I didn’t want to do it anymore. So I put her on Similac ready to feed milk. But ever since she has been in pain also scared to poop.. idk what to do anymore I wish I can take her pain. The doctor is telling me to change the milk to Enfamil, gentle-ease. I should’ve just kept breastfeeding.

My baby had that problem on Similac 360 total care. She was born 09/29! She wouldn’t poop when she had that and would not burp easily and then would spit up every single feed. Now we are using a mixture of Enfamil Neuropro and breast milk and she’s feeling so much better. Easier poops/burps and way less spitting up. Overall less fussy too.

since you are still within a couple weeks pp, would could try pumping again and see what you get! It is possible to reestablish milk supply if it has went down

Question. I have been breastfeeding for 5 months now. Not strictly but most of the time. Recently I have noticed that I get sharp pains and discomfort in my breast. It seems like it is coming from my milk ducts. Is there something wrong?

Breastfeeding moms: have you ever had pain in your breast from baby "pulling too hard" during a peak? My nipple doesn't hurt, it doesn't feel engorged. It just feels like she's pumping nothing

Pull on it like she would suck and see what you get out. It’s normal to experience a little discomfort in the beginning.
