How to choose a bottle nipple?

In the bottle nipple section, it's hard to choose from all the many brands and models available. So which one should you choose?

  • Latex or silicone? Natural, latex nipples are made from rubber tree sap and are flexible, making them easier to adapt to the baby's mouth.
  • The new generation of silicone nipples has no odor or color and is less flexible, making them more difficult to suck on.
  • In terms of flow rate, brands offer slow, medium, or fast speed nipples. Before six months, choose the slow or medium flow rate. The choice of bottle nipple is then made according to the baby's appetite: if he is a good eater, the intermediate speed will be ideal.
  • Today, many anti-colic nipples are available, with a valve that prevents the baby from swallowing too much air and with more flexibility in comparison to that of the breast.

these bottles are the absolute worst!! i got them because i thought they were so cute and the nipple keeps sucking into the bottle AND i have the smallest nipple size and it’s still too fast! the bottle i got from walmart for $3 are way better than these. 🤦🏽‍♀️

We couldn't use them when my son was a newborn, either. We tried again around 4ish months and they are his favorite. Might be worth trying again when your baby is a little older.

I need help mamas ! Any advice on nipple confusion? My son has been taking the breast and bottle for 3 months but last week he has completely been mad and impatient on the boob he wants the bottle and still gets mad with the bottle unless the nipple is a 3 ! Basically wants a faster flow and doesn’t want to work to get his milk from me I’m honestly sad but I don’t want him upset ! Does anyone else solely pump instead of nursing ?

My son was the same way who just turned 4 months today. I used that opportunity to wean him off the breast and exclusively pump. He too wanted that faster flow and didn’t want to work for it once he was introduced to the bottle. You’re doing great… if you want to continue just do it certain times of the day like u mentioned.

Thank you ! My son also turned four months today ! You’re right I was thinking about the fact that I won’t have to wean him off later I’ll probably try to nurse him a couple more times but it’s looking like I’ll be strictly pumping for now on I appreciate your help . Thank you so much 🩷🩷

So I definitely have to share my experience I totally forgot with my last pregnancy to never ever take apart the bottles and nipples completely and put them all together with different bottles it took me almost the whole day after boiling the bottles cleaning them and stuff to figure out what bottle nipple and caps and pieces go together I literally had to throw away one bottle and a couple pieces to a few other bottles because I couldn't figure it out

Is it Ultra Preemie? My son was 5lbs and got those purple nipples as well. I ordered them on amazon and they fit in his dr. Browns bottles. The slim bottle not the thick bottles.

My son is 16 months old, and we’ve been trying to get him to take anything but a bottle (with traditional bottle nipple) to nap/bed. He refuses anything but his normal bottles. I’ve tried many different types of sippy cups, and bottles that have a sippy cup type nipple. Any advice on getting him away from the bottle? 😅

Idk if this works at all lol But have you tried sippy cups with straws? I heard a lot of moms say their kids liked those ones a lot more than the other sippy cups

Yes! He will drink out of sippy cups with straws, he’ll drink out of any cup really- it’s just at bedtime/nap time that he refuses them, and wants his bottle lol. I got him the Nuk bottle that has a sippy cup type nipple, and he even refuses that. I think his bottle is a big sense of security for him- like pacifiers are for other kids. He got rid of pacifiers all by himself (at less than a year old) but he’s clinging onto the bottles haha.

Hey aunties!! The NUK bottle is thee best bottle as far as control for newborn babies. Especially if your baby is breast and bottle fed. The nipple is shaped like a real breast which makes feeding sessions a breeze and I never have to worry about if my baby will forget how to latch on if she's fed too many bottles in a day!! I mixed my breast milk with a Lil rice so sis finna be knocked out after this!🙌🫡😍

Can I get everyone’s opinion on the lansinoh bottle and dr browns bottle? I’m trying to decide between the two. I’ve been using Tommee tippee since my baby was born but I realized the nipple is so hard!! She doesn’t want to latch on my breast so I pump and feed her that way but maybe switching her bottles would encourage her? I don’t have a problem with Tommee but I feel so bad that the nipple is hard. My biggest concern between the lansinoh and dr browns is which one has a better flow. I’ve read reviews and some say that the lansinoh can be to fast and the nipple sometimes collapses but I don’t know. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Help!

I think baby girl is having nipple confusion😔 she loves the bottle and when I try to latch her she cries so hard and I try to be patient but I can stand her crying like that and it makes me feel selfish because I don’t want to give up just yet😢 idk what to do
