Alternative Medicine During Pregnancy

Alternative Medicine During Pregnancy
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body.
During pregnancy, acupuncture can help alleviate nausea and vomiting, back pain, and stress and anxiety. Some studies suggest that it may even help with turning a breech baby.
If you're considering acupuncture during pregnancy, it's important to find a qualified acupuncturist who has experience working with pregnant people.
You should also talk to your healthcare provider before starting treatment.
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care involves adjustments to the spine and other joints to help relieve pain and improve function. During pregnancy, chiropractic care can be especially helpful for back pain, sciatica, and pelvic pain.
As with acupuncture, it's important to find a chiropractor who is experienced in working with pregnant people. Some chiropractors use special tables or techniques to accommodate a pregnant belly.
Herbal Remedies
Herbal remedies, including teas and supplements, are another popular form of alternative medicine during pregnancy.
Some herbs, such as ginger, are well-known for their ability to alleviate nausea and vomiting. Other herbs, such as red raspberry leaf, are thought to help prepare the body for labor.
However, it's important to be cautious when using herbs during pregnancy, as some can be harmful to you or your baby.
Some herbs, such as black cohosh, can stimulate uterine contractions and should be avoided during pregnancy. Always talk to your healthcare provider before trying any herbal remedies.
Conclusion
Alternative medicine can be a great option for pregnant people looking for natural ways to alleviate common pregnancy symptoms.
However, it's important to do your research and talk to your healthcare provider before trying any new therapies.

I also had to stop cold turkey bc my doc didn't feel comfortable prescribing it to me to keep the baby safe and it was really tough that I had to take a leave of absence from grad school. I wish there was an alternative for pregnant women specifically for ADHD but I don't think there's enough research. The most they have offered me was zoloft for anxiety/depression but I didnt want it.

It all depends on the doctor, my doctor both pcp and OB were comfortable with me continuing my meds as long as I had an additional scan to monitor growth however I am on Vyvanse, they did say that studies showed smaller size however when doing most the studies they include all stimulants not just ADHD meds, so technically you’re looking at meth/ cocaine etc. it’s controversial I know but weighing the pros vs the cons and lack of data ( FDA does not give a clear no on it either) and being up for a promotion that would double my salary in this economy we are continuing them, and will potentially wean down later vs cold turkey because I put my job at risk with the side effects and transition

So if every medicine (Robitussin, mucinex, Tylenol) that you’re allowed to take during pregnancy leads to autism… what the hell am I suppose to take or am I suppose to just suffer ?

I’m not sure of the actual risks because some studies are not as reliable, large enough or inconclusive enough to really say for sure… however I personally still wouldn’t take anything because of possible risks that might include that or not. I’d talk to your Dr

Those of you that have had a UTI during pregnancy were you prescribed Nitrofurantoin? I've never heard if this medicine and pharmacist said as long as I'm I'm not 38 weeks or after I can take it. 🤔 I'm a little nervous but I gotta treat this UTI. One of the midwives called it in.

I told them how that strip turned purple and it means infection on the package and how my urine samples have had blood. Also I wiped one day after peeing and I saw blood just a little but still.
