Should I get a flu shot during pregnancy?

If you are pregnant during the winter period, it is strongly recommended that you get a flu shot.

Vaccination against the flu is strongly recommended because you are more likely to develop complications. If it occurs at the end of your pregnancy, you risk contracting respiratory problems, a situation that is not compatible with the joy of being a mom soon!

The flu increases the risk of miscarriage. Bad flu is not without risk for the health of your baby.

Why take all these risks when there is an effective and harmless vaccine for the baby?

Hi, Has any of you taken the covid vaccine or gotten a flu shot while pregnant? I'm only asking because I was just offered a job at the children's hospital and it's required for the job. I'm scared honestly to get them.

Hello moms & moms to be!🥰 My first post on here, I’m currently 9w 5d pregnant with my first baby here💕 I honestly am so nervous either way I go about this but wanted to get opinions from you all/information you all may know already. So I never get the flu shot, because I have never had an issue with getting the flu for the most part of my life! With that being said, I’m 24 and the first time I ever did end up with the flu was last year!😅 I work in healthcare and the nurse I was telling if I do get it I want her to give it to me told me she doesn’t want to be responsible if something were to happen if I take it… I’m looking online but I’m assuming I need to dig deeper on the flu vaccine if there is any true harm that could be caused because everything I’m seeing says it’s recommended to get the vaccine while pregnant… ✨so long story short please give me your stories/opinions, good or bad just so long as they’re not to just judge my character.✨ I’m honestly doing my best here, I’m trying to think of what’s best for the baby whether it be to take the vaccine or not. TIA❤️ #firsttimemom #allmoms

I’m a first time mom, I haven’t taken it. The only vaccine I plan to take while pregnant is the TDap, just my personal choice… interested to hear feedback From other moms and moms to be though. Good luck!

Have anyone taken vaccines while pregnant? If so which ones and how did they affect you. My doctor wants me to get a flu shot, COVID-19 shot and Dtap. I have never gotten a flu shot and I haven't been the same since I took two doses of COVID vaccine 3 years ago. Do y'all plan on getting vaccinated while pregnant?

I didn't get flu shots, I didn't get the covid shit, I did get the tdap. It's all up to you, I did those based on my own opinions of the world. But I would strongly encourage the tdap. But again, you do you. Do your research. Don't let anyone bully you into thinking you have to do any of them.

I did the same as margo. I already had my pre opinions about COVID vaccines and determined I wasn't going to get them under any circumstances. My obgyn recommended me get some vaccines and one of them was COVID. After she recommended them, I dove back into researching it. Maybe I missed something? Maybe the latest COVID vaccine is good? After days of researching and asking questions and even talked with a few experts in the subject I still decided yeah no not gonna happen. But I made sure that's what I was going to do. As long as you do what you think is best that's what matters most. Do the research, talk with other doctors you can trust, or family members. My doctor also recommended I get a flu shot and I haven't had one since I was a kid and really didn't feel like getting a flu shot was necessary either.

Has anyone had a negative to the Tdap or opted out of getting it? Hello, My NP mentioned on my 28 week appointment that it was time to get the Tdap vaccine. She said it was the number 1 neonatal killer. I got a Tdap vaccine 5 years ago but she stated that I needed one during pregnancy. I was planning on getting at the hospital at birth but the baby would not receive the antibodies as it would during pregnancy. I did not want to get any vaccines during pregnancy. I got my Covid booster before I was pregnant and I opted out of the flu vaccine. My NP told me to consider this one. I am little hesitant because I got one of the Covid boosters last during my pregnancy on Oct 30 and went to my ultrasound a week later the heartbeat was low :( a few weeks later I miscarried. I got my Covid vaccine around 5 weeks. I am a little worried to get a vaccine after this. Now I know 20 percent of women miscarry and it might not have been the vaccine at all, but I am still hesitant on getting a vaccine while pregnant. Does anyone know anyone who had negative or had a negative reaction to the Tdap? Has anyone got the Tdap and their baby was ok after getting it?

I got the Tdap vaccine & everything is still good with my baby. It didn’t affect him at all. My arm was a little sore the next day but that’s about it.

Please consider getting it during pregnancy. Whooping cough kills so many babies. It really does protect them.

I'd love opinions on the flu vaccine in early pregnancy. When I went to my ob appointment they asked if I wanted it but I really don't know. I don't aceragely get one and haven't had the flu in years but just really looking for different opinions on people's experiences etc

I got mine at 16 weeks and it hit me hard. Took a few days to recover from symptoms but from what I heard that may be normal since we've been masked up and social distanced these past couple years.

It’s recommended and recommended for everyone who is going to be around your baby. I personally will most likely not get the flu vaccine since I had a bad reaction like 20 years ago. I got the tdap a few years ago to go see my little niece. Tdap lasts for 10 years (I think) but not sure if they make you get it again when you’re pregnant
