Medications prohibited and not recommended during pregnancy

As you know, pregnancy and medications do not mix well, and many are prohibited, otherwise, they could threaten your child's health.

It is important to distinguish between products that are formally contraindicated and those that are not. Contraindicated products carry risks that have been scientifically proven. Do not take them under any circumstances. For drugs that are not recommended, the risk is suspected but not proven. They should only be taken if you get a real benefit from them and if you have no other solution.

In any case, before taking any medication, ask your doctor for advice. They can also provide you with a complete list of prohibited and authorized products during pregnancy.

Some drs will have you take a very low dose of baby aspirin to help minimize your risk of pre-eclampsia. So if he is recommending it I would definitely consider taking it.

In my 1st Trimester I stopped taking Lexapro, because I didn’t want anything to happen to my baby developing. Once I got 24 weeks my ob saw that I really needed my antidepressants she started me back on Lexapro but I only take 10mg. And she said that Lexapro is the safest antidepressant medication out there.

Does anyone on here take asthma medication while pregnant? I was on symbicort and stopped after getting pregnant. Now, 15 weeks in, I am wheezing and coughing really bad, and rescue inhalers don’t do it for me. Can anyone relate?

I have severe asthma and went to see a specialist early in pregnancy. They prescribed be symbicort and told me it's one that has been tested a lot on pregnant women. It's safe to continue taking, matter of a fact it's definitely safe to breathe! Haha.
