Weight gain during pregnancy, month by month

During pregnancy, there is something that most moms-to-be worry about— weight! Stop thinking about the standards and preconceptions, let's check!

  • During pregnancy, you can eat for two: false! During these nine months, you should gain between 19 and 26 lbs.
  • During the first three months, your weight gain will be small, mainly because of nausea.
  • In the second trimester, weight gain accelerates, especially with the famous "cravings".
  • By the 6th month, you should have put on 16 lbs.
  • In the last trimester, count 3.3 lbs per month.

If you are worried, don't hesitate to talk to your midwife or obstetrician, who will give you a diet adapted to your pregnancy.

I don’t understand how some women don’t gain weight during pregnancy’ I gained 100 lbs with my daughter when I was 19 ‘ then lost it all that same year. It’s now 12 years later and I’m having my son ‘ half way through my pregnancy and I’m at least 25 lbs heavier than when I got pregnant’ I still have a little over 3 months to go’ I gain weight fast but I also loose it fast . I’m not worried about being fat because I eat healthy’ even with my daughter I ate super healthy … little portions and still gained over 100 lbs ‘ I was 150 when I got pregnant with her and was 255 on the table . This time around I was 185 of pure muscle because I did work out for years and now I’m 208 ‘ I’m gaining about 2 lbs a week’ my boy is heavy and I can feel it big time and my uterus is already the size of a soccer ball lol 😂 which is normal at week 24 ‘ I just can’t believe some of y’all don’t gain anything’ part of me is envious but at the same time I feel like if I didn’t gain much I’d be worried my baby wasent getting the nutrients he needs… I can loose all of it once he is here so I’m not going to count calories while he is in me’ I refuse ! Hahah what’s your secrets for not gaining over 20 lbs your whole pregnancy I need to know lmao’ I feel like that would be impossible for me.

How did all of you ladies deal with the weight gain during pregnancy? I was already a plus size girl before getting pregnant, and was working on losing weight before finding out I was pregnant. Now, I feel like I'm gaining weight too fast and, am not handling it very well.. How easy was it for you to loose it after giving birth? I'm trying to be as healthy as possible, but find myself being hungry at like 3am.. Just feeling a little hopeless is all..💔😭

So I know you gain weight during pregnancy, no brainer, but after my Dr. Appt yesterday and seeing the number on the scale I am definitely in my feelings. I have never weighed so much in my life and I’m only 13 weeks 😭 idk just feeling really down about it. Any mamas out there that can relate?

Had a drs appt today..I tell my ob my feet, well ankles started swelling && I can see dents in my legs like if I cross them or sit indian style && she says "Where I don't see any swelling" I said "I'm skinny, u would see my ankles..they missing" 🥴🤷🏾‍♀🤣 she said "I don't see anything wrong, you're okay plus you're gaining weight"(my mama said the same thing about the weight gain🤦🏾‍♀🤣)welllllll okayyyyy I get 2 the end of my pregnancy && gain weight on my...ankles 🥴🤦🏾‍♀🤣 I can only fit 1 pair of shoes && they my mama's, my shoes don't fit me...that weight gain on my feet/ankles is something serious ain't it 🥴🤣 I'm 145...biggest I've ever been but there will still be someone saying I'm too small 🤦🏾‍♀🤣 she also won't do any blood work on me since I took my glucose test(at 30 wks I think)&& they did blood work and everything came back good 🤦🏾‍♀ I've been telling her I'm craving dirt(I craved it with my 1st pregnancy && my iron was low)I've also started itching on my hands, feet, basically everywhere, I'm 35 weeks 4 days, so I'm just gonna give it all to God && pray that baby girl && the rest of the pregnancy goes good 🙏🏾❤

So am I the only one that has exceeded the expected pregnancy weight gain, for it to be considered a “healthy pregnancy” — I started out weighing 150 lbs now I’m close to 190 lbs. I do have thick thighs/hips, so that may contribute to it, but I feel like I’m overdoing it..

I’m feeling super insecure about my weight gain during my pregnancy. I am 22 weeks pregnant & I just feel so self conscious. I was 130 before this. What was yours before during and after ? Is it easy to loose weight after? Help. I have struggled with body image my whole life- I use to be Bulimic. (Haven’t clearly during my pregnancy)- or 6 months prior to
