My Pregnancy Is Post-Term

Your Baby's Home is Getting Cozy
Let's talk about what it means if your pregnancy goes beyond the expected 40-week mark.
While the term "post-term" may sound intimidating, it's not always a red flag.
How going past your due date can impact your baby
  • More Time in the Womb: A few extra days or even a week can give your baby more time to develop their lungs and other organs.
  • Weight Gain: Your baby could end up weighing more than the average 7-8 pounds.
  • Monitoring: Expect more frequent visits to your healthcare provider for monitoring, like non-stress tests and ultrasounds.
  • Mature Skin: Babies born post-term often have less vernix, the cheesy substance that protects their skin in the womb.
  • More Alert: Often, post-term babies appear more alert and active right from the get-go. 🌟
When Your Baby's Movements Shift from Gymnastics to Yoga 🧘‍♀️
If you've made it past 40 weeks, you've probably noticed that your little one's movements have evolved. No more kickboxing sessions in your belly! Instead, they’re more like slow rolls and wiggles.
  • Space Constraints: Your baby has less room to move, so their actions become more subtle but no less significant.
  • Readiness for the World: This shift in activity is also a sign that your baby is getting ready for birth by moving into the ideal birthing position.
  • Important Monitoring: Always pay attention to your baby's movements; if they become drastically reduced or absent, contact your healthcare provider. 🚨
Let's Talk About Nutrients and Blood Supply
As you move further into a post-term pregnancy, there’s increased focus on the placental function and umbilical cord. These are your baby's lifelines for nutrients and oxygen.
  • Placenta Watch: Over time, the placenta can begin to age and calcify, possibly affecting its performance.
  • Consistent Monitoring: Doppler studies can help monitor the blood flow to ensure your baby is getting what they need.
  • Quality over Quantity: The nutrients are still flowing, but quality is key. Make sure you’re still getting balanced nutrition.
The Good News: You're Ready, and So Is Your Baby! 🎉
If you're feeling a little anxious about your pregnancy extending past the expected due date, know that both you and your baby are well-prepared for what's to come.
  • Medical Backup: Inductions and C-sections are options if your baby decides they're too comfy in there.
  • The Finish Line: Your body will give you signs that labor is near, like losing the mucus plug or experiencing more regular contractions.
  • You Got This: Trust your body and your medical team. You're on the cusp of meeting your beautiful new baby.
So, worry not, future mom! Your post-term baby is just taking a little extra time to make their big debut. Keep informed, stay positive, and get ready to welcome your bundle of joy! 🎈

Has anyone had a preterm birth with their first and carry full term with their second pregnancy? I had my daughter at 30 weeks and 6 days and I’m terrified it’s going to happen again with this pregnancy

Didn't want to post something like this on 4th of July but again apparently there are some moms on her trying to rush their labors when they aren't even term(37-38) or full term (39-40) or late term(40+)I wanted to share a bit about my daughter she came at 33 weeks and 4 days into pregnancy she was large but she still has some developmental delays that could highly be because she came early all I'm gonna say is that let ur baby's fully develop don't try to rush labor when ur not term or full term I understand if ur are full term trying to rush into labor and such cause that's a good reason to do such is that ur full term and needing to give ur body the extra push but pls people take into consideration that if u truly want what's best for ur baby that u wouldn't try to put yourself into preterm labor just wait I know it's hard but plz I don't want negative comments or drama about this but I needed to voice it out especially with my experience of having to deal with preterm labor and what my daughter has been going through cause she came early not by choice sand such

Yeah I'm high risk not only because of the fact she came early but also because after I suffered from a postpartum hemorrhage and I'm afraid to go through all that over again so I feel like I'm more paranoid and then to hear about moms trying to induce labor between 33 to 36 weeks it upsets me but I know I can't comment without the drama and such so I wanted to at least voice it out in some way to share awareness but also to communicate how it had effected my daughter at least and I felt like I just needed to say all this because it's horrible to sometimes see someone who is completely healthy to seek out ways to try to induce or rush labor before their babies are even term or full term when their babies can make it to term and such and I'm trying my best for this baby to at least come at term which is 37 to 38 knowing that there's a good chance this baby isn't gonna make it to full term with my history and he is already showing on a big scale not a concerning one but yeah and it doesn't help that I've already started to feel pelvic pain and more symptoms every day and it paranoid me every single time and I feel like some people don't or won't understand how that feels like and it's terrifies me to see that some people out there saying that and even encouraging it

The fact that my last post concerning working out during my pregnancy cracked some of yall up is part of the reason I don't post on here.

You have got to try on this app not to take things personal. I have been noticing how insensitive ppl can be lately. I think it’s good that you want to work out during your pregnancy! Sure will make labor a lot easier!!

This is my first pregnancy and I’m almost out of my first trimester but I keep seeing people on social say things like don’t post your pregnancy (from their own personal experience), don’t post your babies name and it’s giving me mixed emotions because I am extremely excited but I also don’t want any mal de ojo sent my way. I just want a peaceful and healthy pregnancy.

Yes I’m going to wait until my second trimester. It’s just my kid’s dad comes with a lot of drama that I wasn’t privy to until I found out I was pregnant and I just don’t want the drama.
