Anal Sex & Pregnancy

Anal Sex & Pregnancy: Understanding the Facts
As a pregnant woman, you may have questions about anal sex and whether it is safe during pregnancy. It's important to have accurate information to make informed decisions about your sexual health. Let's dive into the topic and explore the facts:
The Safety Perspective: Discussing with Your Healthcare Provider
When it comes to anal sex during pregnancy, it's crucial to have open and honest communication with your healthcare provider. They can provide personalized guidance based on your unique circumstances and medical history.
Consulting your healthcare provider ensures that you receive accurate and up-to-date information tailored to your situation.
Potential Risks and Considerations
While there is limited scientific research specifically focusing on anal sex during pregnancy, it's essential to be aware of potential risks and considerations.
Here are some factors to keep in mind:
  • Infections: Engaging in anal sex may increase the risk of rectal infections, such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs). It's important to use appropriate protection, such as condoms, to reduce the risk of transmission.
  • Discomfort or pain: Pregnancy can bring about physical changes, including increased blood flow to the pelvic area, which may make anal sex uncomfortable or painful. It's essential to prioritize your comfort and well-being throughout your pregnancy.
Expert Advice: Seeking Professional Guidance
To ensure the best possible care and advice, consider reaching out to professionals who specialize in sexual health during pregnancy.
These may include:
  • Obstetrician or midwife: Your prenatal healthcare provider can offer guidance, answer your questions, and address any concerns you may have about sexual activity during pregnancy.
  • Sexual health counselor: If you feel the need for further support or have specific concerns about anal sex during pregnancy, a sexual health counselor or therapist can provide expert guidance and help you navigate your sexual relationship during this special time.

Probably dumb to ask since I’ve already done it a couple times and not tryna be tmi but yes I have had anal a few times I’m hoping that’s safe to have postpartum just now have thoughts running through my head I know vaginal definitely isn’t safe to have but I only tore vaginally so I figured anal was safe now I’m over thinking it so can I have some input please . Sorry for being tmi.

You should hold it on everything right now. Your whole lower area just had so much trauma after giving birth I will wait at least three more weeks

I feel it , I have stitches in a couple places , 2nd degree so it’s not a full tear to the other hole but I wanted sex as soon as we got discharged like 3/4 days after birth , and I don’t want to wait but definitely have to and there’s so much swelling . I’m almost 3 weeks postpartum

I have had a pretty decent sex drive I get dry spells and then I'm like wanting it constantly but it's honestly like I'm going through my cycle minus the painful cramps and bleeding.

Advice please !!!! TMI before reading if you don't wanna. Has any one done anal sex at 36 weeks pregnant??? Is it actually safe. Is small bleeding from back there afterwards ok? I'm not bleeding at all from my vagina though. I am having lots of pressure down there and kinda waiting to feel baby move..

Most sex will simmer baby down for a while, anal or not. I'm not quite 36 weeks but last week at 30, we did the anal thing (not my fav lol) a little bleeding is normal especially if you don't do it often. Keep an eye on the bleeding and track baby's movements. I'm sure all is well.

It's perfectly safe ... I'm concerned at the "somewhat comfortable " part, though.
