Should I Wax For Childbirth?

Should I Wax For Childbirth?
THere are some considerations to help you make an informed decision.
Hair Removal
  • Some women prefer to remove hair in the perineal area (the area between the vagina and anus) before childbirth. The idea behind this choice is that it may make it easier to keep the area clean during labor and reduce the risk of infection.
  • Hair removal can be done by shaving, waxing, using depilatory creams, or other methods. If you choose to remove hair, it's advisable to do so a few days before the expected due date to allow any potential irritation to subside.
Natural Approach
  • Other women choose not to remove hair and opt for a more natural approach during childbirth. Many healthcare providers and birthing professionals emphasize that hair removal is not a medical requirement for childbirth.
  • Keeping hair as is may be more comfortable for some women, as hair can help to provide a barrier and protection against potential friction or chafing during labor.
Personal Comfort and Choice
  • The most critical factor in this decision is the mother's comfort and sense of agency. It's essential to feel at ease and confident during labor, and this includes considering your comfort with your body and appearance.
  • Communicate your preferences with your healthcare provider and birthing team. They will respect your choices and support you in any decision you make.

How am I going to prepare for a natural birth when I could hardly handle a Brazilian wax?! 😣🤦🏾‍♀️ So I usually have my hair removed with laser hair treatments. Since finding out I was pregnant, my OB doesn’t recommend going while pregnant and my last laser appointment was late July (like -5 weeks from conception). I’m going on vacation soon and will be out of the country for 5 weeks so I didn’t want to have to worry about shaving while gone, so I decided to get a wax of stomach, full Brazilian and thighs (super hairy). Yall, the wax lady started on my stomach and at that moment I knew I had messed up 😂 it was so unpleasant and I can’t imagine ever getting another wax of any body part! But this experience made me realize that I am gonna need a lot of support and mental preparation for labor. I want to experience a natural labor and now I’m wondering like how will I survive labor pains if I struggled with a 30-45 min wax. 😩

I personally have just let it be. I tried to trim but once I can’t reach well without thinking I’ll cut myself it’s a wrap lol. If you wax it’ll be more sensitive than normal so it might hurt. As for shaving my sister has her husband do it lol

They say no waxing due to skin sensitivity you may develop a infection so I just leave it be I’ll worry about it after delivery and probably another month after that 😂😂

My next wax is next week. Been getting waxed for a whole year and my esthetician said only difference is you may feel it a little more just like when you get waxed on your period( it’s more tender) but doable🫶🏽 I will let y’all know how it goes!

I’m only 26 weeks but, I’ve been getting waxes for the past 3 years and have continued getting my Brazilian waxes this whole time. My OB said it was fine as long as I was going to the same place that I’ve been going to and haven’t gotten any sort of reaction, and as long as I don’t lay flat on my back. 😊

Question: I always do my own Brazilian wax because hair comes out thinner, but now that I’m pregnant; it’s thick. I feel like it’s pointless and painful to wax. Should I shave and just wait towards the end to wax again? 💀

I got waxed 4 weeks ago and I’ll go back tomorrow. It didn’t hurt more than before. Just relax and take a warm shower before getting waxed.

The first time can be painful. You get used to this type of pain. I try to get waxed regularly (every 4/6 weeks) my hairs grow slower and less!
