When do the painful contractions appear?

Like most moms-to-be, you probably dread the pain of contractions. When do they start?

  • Throughout your pregnancy, you will experience contractions that are usually painless and irregular.
  • The first contractions occur around the 4th month and help the fetus position itself head down in your uterus.
  • The most painful contractions are the ones that precede childbirth. They dilate the cervix and prepare the baby for birth.
  • However, some women experience painful contractions early, so talk to your doctor.
  • Don't worry, there are several tips to relieve painful contractions!

Woke up with super painful contractions... or at least I think that was a contraction. Stomach super hard and shooting pain put me in tears 😢 How do I know if Braxton hicks or not? I'm 33 weeks, I'll be 34 weeks Monday

The past 4 days my mucus plug has been falling out in pieces & today a really big piece came out yesterday & this morning. I've had one bad contraction & a few minor ones along with lower back pain. But that's not what's bothering me today. It's all the pressure in my 😺. Idk if its cuz its twins, but it kinda hurts. Like it feels like someone took a hammer & hit it one good time. Its uncomfortable to walk or get up too fast.

Anyone else experienced a chemical ‘pregnancy’? It’s when all tests come back positive/ you feel the symptoms but then around 5/6 wks hcg levels show up super low and a home test shows not pregnant. There’s no pain or ‘contraction’ like in a miscarriage that’s been further along bc the embryo stopped forming very early on. Just had light bleeding for about two days and then it stopped. #miscarriageconcerns #chemicalpregnancy #yourenotalone #5weeks

For the past 4 days I’ve had this unbearable ache on my left side and in my lower back on and off. Today the pain was constant all day. And it feels worse when I’m having a Braxton hicks contraction. My side and lower uterus feel so heavy and sore. Am I having contractions or is this just round ligament pain?

#twins what the heck is this!? 32 weeks and having right side pain like a contraction but it's relentless. Not a pause in sight for an hour. It's horrible. I've had 3 kids and never once was it like this.
