Baby's Changes Overview
Open 3D Baby to see all changes
  • Enhanced Hearing: Your baby's hearing is more acute than ever, making it a perfect time to continue bonding through conversation.
    • Operational Circulatory and Immune Systems: These critical systems are functional, offering your baby protection and support.
    • Digestive System Maturation: Although operational, the digestive system will undergo further maturation after birth, adapting to solid foods over time.
    • Positioning for Delivery: Your baby may start to descend into the birth canal, a process known as "lightening," potentially easing some of your respiratory discomfort but possibly increasing pelvic pressure.
    • Amniotic Fluid Dynamics: The composition of amniotic fluid, crucial for your baby's protection, undergoes slight changes as your baby grows larger.
    • Shedding of Lanugo and Vernix Caseosa: These protective layers are being shed and ingested by your baby, a process that is part of their development.
    • Primary Teeth: The foundation for your baby's smile is being laid with the full development of tooth buds in their gums.
    • Strengthening Muscles: Your baby's muscles are stronger, enabling more precise movements and expressions, a testament to their growing physical capabilities.
The baby might 'drop' lower into your pelvis, a process called lightening, which can increase pressure but also ease breathing.

  • Healthy Eating: A balanced diet is essential now more than ever, supporting both your health and your baby's growth.
  • Seek Support: Emotional fluctuations are natural; seek advice and support to navigate these feelings confidently.
  • Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is crucial for maintaining amniotic fluid levels and overall health.
  • Avoid Tobacco Smoke: Ensure a smoke-free environment to protect your baby's developing systems.
  • Local Leisure Activities: Enjoy the beauty of your surroundings through safe, local outings, making the most of these precious moments before your baby's arrival.

My doctor just told me, you don't get any rewards for caring after 35/37 weeks at my age 35 . I wasn't sure if I should be offended or to laugh. What are your thoughts? Ps. I am ok at delivering at that time as long as my baby girl is healthy and happy

Usually 37 weeks if you have gestational hypertension, or other complications. Otherwise, why not?

We are still here in the hospital because i’m being monitored due to my Blood Pressure but i also had gestational diabetes so they are monitoring her sugar levels and making sure she can regulate her body temperature. if both of those go well for her while i’m here she can come home without having to stay in the nicu
