Mood swings

Mood swings
During pregnancy, you may experience changes in mood, such as feeling irritable, anxious, or emotional.

Is it normal?
Mood swings are a completely common part of the pregnancy experience.

They're caused by a mix of hormonal changes, increased stress, and the new responsibilities that come with having a little one on the way.

And let's be real, pregnancy can be a roller coaster of emotions in and of itself.

One moment, you're feeling on top of the world, and the next, you're bawling your eyes out for no apparent reason. Don't worry, it's all normal.
Prevent and care
It's completely normal to experience mood swings and changes in your emotional state. However, there are things you can do to help alleviate these symptoms and feel more at ease.
  • Engage in light physical activity such as walking, yoga, or swimming to boost mood, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve sleep.

  • Follow a balanced diet rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to promote physical and mental wellness.

  • Engage in activities that bring joy and fulfillment, such as reading, gardening, or painting, to boost mood and promote overall wellbeing.
  • Reach out to loved ones and friends for support, join a prenatal support group, or seek the help of a counselor or therapist.

  • Practice deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation to calm the mind and reduce stress.

  • Establish a consistent sleep schedule, create a comfortable sleep environment, and avoid stimulants such as caffeine before bedtime.
You're going through a big life change and all of the emotions that come with it are 100 percent valid.

When to consult?
If your mood swings are causing you to feel overwhelmed, stressed, or are affecting your daily life, it might be time to consult with your doctor.

Your doctor is a professional and is there to support you in any way they can.

They can offer advice and guidance to help you manage your mood swings and get you back on track.

Remember, there's no shame in reaching out for help. Your doctor will be more than happy to work with you to find the best solution for your situation.

They may suggest therapy, medication, or other resources to help you feel better 🫶🏼

So don't be afraid to speak up and share what you're going through. You're not alone in this journey, and your doctor is here to support you every step of the way.

You've got this, mama-to-be! Keep shining and taking care of yourself and your little one.

It be like that. I lost my shit yesterday when hubby farted next to me. Like this man came in the room, closed the door, sat next to me and farted while I was plugged up to my breast pump and couldn't move. I tell him all the time how I need that to be my zen time and he does that shit! Like bro!

Anybody else experience mood swings in the second trimester? I’m 16 weeks in a few days and have just been feeling so damn irritable lately. Then I feel guilty about being in a perpetual bad mood 😒
