Which maternity leave for a first child?

Your first baby is about to arrive and you're wondering what your rights are in terms of maternity leave?

  • First of all, rest assured that you will have a relatively long period of time to enjoy your little one and get used to your new role as a mother.
  • For a first baby, your leave will begin 6 weeks before the expected date of birth and end 10 weeks after the baby's arrival, for a total of 16 weeks.
  • Note: if your pregnancy goes well, you can reduce your prenatal leave to extend the postnatal period and enjoy your baby more serenely!

When I was working a job I worked all the way up until I went into labor mainly because I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my baby. Now, I have my own business and take time off starting 3 to 4 weeks before my due date.
