What is an anterior placenta?
During pregnancy, the placenta is located in the uterine cavity. Within the uterine cavity, it can be placed in various positions. The anterior placenta is one of them.
- During your pregnancy, the placenta will move upwards and place itself at the bottom of the uterus.
- Different medical terms are used to describe the position of the placenta within the uterus.
- If your gynecologist calls it anterior placenta, it means that it is in the front.
- Whether it is in the front or the back (posterior) does not cause any complications. As long as it is not too close to the cervix (low-lying placenta), you have nothing to worry about.
