What is a low-lying placenta? What does it imply?

The placenta is a nourishing and protective organ, but it can sometimes be a source of concern, for example when it is low-lying.

  • A low-lying placenta, or placenta previa, is when it is placed too close to the cervix.
  • It can be detected by ultrasound as early as the 4th month of pregnancy.
  • A close follow-up is set up and rest is recommended.
  • During the 3rd trimester, the low-lying placenta can cause bleeding during contractions.
  • If the placenta is too close to the cervix, or even completely covers it, the delivery will take place by C-section.

Tomorrow I’ll be 23 weeks 🥹 glucose test at 25 weeks dec 1. My anxiety is killing me waiting for my 28 week scan the doctors won’t tell me about my placenta till then at my anatomy scan in October they told me it’s low lying and put me on physical limitations, I hope it naturally moved up by 28 weeks 😩

What’s it mean if your placenta is low lying??? Just curious! It’s my third pregnancy and I’m 14 weeks today but never been told that before!

Recently found out my placenta is low lying and I have a hemorrhage so me and baby are high risk at the moment . When I went in for the follow appointment ob said everything looked fine because the hemorrhage was really small and baby was still growing as she needed to and still had a good heart beat and movement . We are on 2 week visits now and I am actually measuring farther along than I am . But today and yesterday y’all I felt her little kicks and that is TOP TIER HAPPINESS FOR ME 😩😩🥰🥰‼️

Has anyone had bad experiences with C-sections? I might need to get one for the 1st time due to my low lying placenta and I’m scared. 😭
