Stitches following an episiotomy

In case of episiotomy during your delivery, stitches will be used to close your perineum.

  • Two types of stitches are possible to sew up the skin between the vagina and the anus: absorbable sutures and nylon sutures, which will be removed about six days after the operation.
  • In either case, the scar will need to be checked to ensure that it is healing.
  • Depending on the woman, three or four stitches are necessary, and they must be well placed to avoid any pain during future sexual relations.

Hey ladies, for those who had an episiotomy or stitches period down there, did it feel as if the skin in the area was tight? After it healed at least 6 weeks.
