Why does the baby cry during feeding?

For several days, the baby has been crying during each meal... For technical or medical reasons, there are several ways to remedy this.

  • A baby who cries during a meal is often an expression of discomfort.
  • Check the flow of the bottle's nipple, it is probably too slow or too fast.
  • In the first few weeks, the shape of the nipple may not be right for the baby's mouth. Try several styles. The baby may prefer the softness of the physiological nipple, which is closer to the shape of the mother's breast.
  • If your baby cries for a few minutes after the first sip, it's likely that they are prone to stomach upsets.
  • If you are concerned, don't hesitate to consult your pediatrician.

New mom here! Idk what to do. My baby literally acts as if he is still hungry immediately after a feed when he unlatches. I cannot keep him from crying. I know he is getting plenty of milk based on the many diapers I am changing. He is also gaining weight. I’ve tried a bottle and he still gets hungry and fussy. Had to force the bottle cause he hates it! Idk what to do but we are not getting any sleep because of this and as much as I enjoy feeding my bombs need a break. They about to fall off from the contest feeding. At first I thought it was cluster feeding but he’s immediately back hungry not even 5 mins. #feeding #breastfeeding #crying #fussy

Have you reached out to a lactation consultant? They may have some tips and tricks for you. This is my 6th baby and I have breastfed them all but this sounds just about right. Everyone does things a bit differently but my baby is stuck to me. I know in the past I’ve been encouraged to just nurse on demand which is pretty much around the clock😬 I know it’s tiring😓

I've been feeling really discouraged.. My daughter will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and the last couple days has been nonstop cluster feeding & she will cry while she is feeding.. (im breastfeeding). Am I not producing enough and thats why shes crying. I havent been able to pump the last couple days due to the constant cluster feeding. She will also fall asleep on me during feeding but as soon as I set her down she wakes up crying and looking for food, this also has been constant. She also seems to be really gassy and when she has gas/needs to poop, it seems to be painful where she's screaming before it comes out.. anyone else have this issue and know how to resolve it? I guess Im just overwhelmed, exhausted, and feeling like I'm failing somewhere with the breastfeeding/mom life. Thanks for listening to my rant.. just needed to vent!

You ever have a cranky baby and do EVERYTHING to try to get them to stop crying? Diaper changes, feeding, burping, rocking, repeat. Nothing works. Then you lay her down in her bassinet because she's still crying and you're frustrated. But suddenly she's content? And falls asleep?? 🙃💜 hopefully she stays asleep, she's gotta be so over tired after all of that 😴

People on tiktok saying they let their 3week olds sleep through the night as long as they can and wake them if they start crying. Is this bad/good? I still would feel weird not feeding him often throughout the night.

It’s perfectly safe to do !! Babies will 99% of the time wake up on their own when they are hungry. Every mom I know that has had more than 1 child learned that always let them sleep and they will wake up when hungry. Just normally for the first 6 weeks or Once your newborn establishes a pattern of weight gain and reaches the birth-weight milestone don’t let them go longer than 5 hours !

Yes as long as there is a healthy weight gain and the doctor approves it it's fine but if you're breastfeeding make sure to wake up at least two times a night to pump or nurse so your milk can establish

It's your body reacting to his cry. It makes you produce milk. It's crazy how it is! Just watch out if they get too full, warm to the touch or hard. It can be a sign of mastitis.

My baby is kicking and crying while I breast feed and I don't know why. I give her bottles but she was eating fine from me last feeding, this feeding she is just so emotional. Her latch is good she's just being so fussy. I think maybe too much is coming out of my breasts but I don't think I'll have enough to feed her if I pump some before I start

Fussing at the end of a nursing session (or what seems to be the end) may mean that baby needs to burp, or is ready to finish nursing, or just wants to suck (and doesn't want to deal with a new let-down at this point), or wants to continue nursing on the other side or with a faster flow of milk
