Post-natal depression: symptoms

Postpartum depression is sometimes confused with the baby blues, especially in the early days. What exactly is it?

  • Although there are some similarities, the signs of postpartum depression are more intense and last longer than those of the baby blues.
  • It usually develops in the weeks following delivery, but can sometimes appear during pregnancy or up to a year after birth.
  • The main symptoms include prolonged depressed mood or major mood swings, loss of appetite, a strong desire to isolate oneself, anxiety, abnormally prolonged fatigue, dark thoughts...

Have any of you dealt with or are dealing with pre-natal depression?? If so what did you do or are doing to cope through it?

I had a rough time getting close to my daughter in first months I barely overcame it I felt like I didn’t have a bond w her but with my first born I was happy glowing with this pregnancy I cried a lot had zero energy I wasn’t feeling excited but I had a scare with the baby not moving for a day and I realized she probably felt my emotions. I still struggle with the depression but I started to bond and love this baby more don’t be so hard on yourself this doesn’t last forever being pregnant is hard on our bodies we are only human I’ll keep you in my prayers you got this 😇

Suffering from depression, it sucks having the pruritus symptom (dry skin, sensitive skin and itchiness) I no longer feel comfortable no more and i just want my baby to come to this world already. ❤️ it’s honestly the worst feeling ever. 😣 everything was going great until 3rd trimester.

Girl I have the dry itchy skin too. It’s agony and I can’t handle it anymore. I’m ready for this to be over 😞
