Baby and Macrosomia at Birth

Baby and Macrosomia at Birth
Hey there, pregnant superstars!
🌟 Your journey to motherhood is an incredible one, filled with joy, anticipation, and maybe a few worries too. One thing you might be curious about is macrosomia, a term that might sound a bit complex but is just a fancy way of saying "big baby."
Let's dive into what macrosomia means for you and your little one. 💖
👶 What's Up with Macrosomia?
  • Curious about macrosomia? 🤔 It's when your baby is expected to be larger than the average baby at birth.
  • We're talking about a bundle of joy tipping the scales at around 9 pounds or more. 🍼
  • Remember, every baby is unique, and a bit of extra weight doesn't mean anything negative for your little champ. 💪
📊 The Nitty-Gritty of Big Babies
  • The exact cause of macrosomia isn't always clear, but factors like gestational diabetes can contribute.
  • Genetics also play a role, so you might have your partner's tall genes to thank! 🧬
  • If this isn't your first rodeo, subsequent babies might tend to be larger. 🐎
  • But hey, bigger babies mean more squishy cuddles, right? 🤗
🏋️‍♀️ The Delivery Game
  • Delivering a larger-than-life cutie might pose a few challenges, but your healthcare team is here to support you.
  • Your and your baby's well-being are top priorities during delivery. ❤️
  • Depending on the situation, a vaginal delivery or a cesarean section might be the best choice. Trust your team's expertise! 🏥
🥕 Focus on a Healthy Journey
  • Keep those prenatal appointments in check for consistent monitoring of your baby's growth. 📆
  • Nourish your body with a balanced diet, including lots of nutrient-rich foods for both you and baby. 🥦🍎
  • Don't forget to stay active with gentle exercises recommended by your doctor. 🏃‍♀️
  • Your dedication is all about giving your baby the best start possible! 🌟
So, there you have it, radiant moms-to-be!
Macrosomia might sound like a big deal, but with the right guidance and care, you've got this journey under control.
🌈 Embrace the amazing changes happening in your body, keep up with your healthcare appointments, and get ready for the awe-inspiring adventure of bringing a beautiful, healthy baby into this world.
You're shining bright on this path to motherhood! 🤱🌺

Currently 22 weeks and haven't gotten any prenatal care as of yet ..I lost my daughter in april of last year from fetal hydrops ... got induced and had to give birth to her . I got pregnant again and I just gave birth in March very traumatic pregnancy and birth I had fetal macrosomia polyhydramnios and preeclampsia he was 8 lbs 13 oz n I had him at 36 weeks. He suffered shoulder dystocia and a brachial plexus injury . No movement in his right arm for months . Was in the nicu for almost a month and didn't open his eyes until a little over 2 weeks after I gave birth to him .. I'm saying all this to say I am terrified that the drs are going to yet again tell me this is a high risk pregnancy and something is wrong . I'm scared . I do feel the baby move I went to the ER a few days ago and they said baby was fine .. #22weeks #scared #pregnancyafterloss #sad

Wouldn’t it be better to know so you can be better prepared? They’re so much testing done to figure out what exactly would make you “high risk” for this pregnancy! It may benefit both you & baby to get prenatal care!

What’s fetal macrosomia? All my kiddos were around 7-8 pounds and are in the 90-100th percentile for weight/height (all ranging from age 6-1)

Question! My son is measuring two weeks ahead. They say he is a macrosomia baby instead of changing my due date. Now, I believe I lost my mucous plug today and I have been cramping all day. Has anyone ever had there baby early when they say your baby is two weeks ahead in growth? My last baby, I lost my plug and then 3 days later my water broke 🥴🥴 I am so nervous right now.

I got an ultrasound in January and the lady started I was measuring ahead. She stated it had me fire around April 19th my original due date is May 2nd so that hasn’t changed that’s what I’m going by. Sometimes they say the baby will just be bigger. Girl I haven’t even lost my mucus plug yet

Growth ultrasound today to check on little man. They think he has macrosomia so I'm hoping they'll induce me since today is my due date!

Hello need a lil bit of help from mom's that where told their baby was bigger than the weeks you are (fetal macrosomia) how accurate are the ultrasound that they do to measure baby? I have a sister they told her her baby was going to be 8lbs but ended up been 6lbs, I'm 28 weeks and only have gain 3 pounds since the beginning of pregnancy , I was 172 before pregnancy and now I'm 175 and I'm 5'0 tall. And I really want to have my baby vaginal not a c-section. TIA

39 weeks and 2 days and having such a hard time hanging in there… I’m starting to get so depressed. We were told our baby girl is in a category called macrosomia meaning she is really big and the longer she’s in the more of a chance I might have to have a C-section. I’m so scared and I wish they would just induce me. The amount of anxiety I have is gigantic.

Why haven't they suggested inducing you?

I asked about an elective induction this week but they said they won’t induce for her being too big and that the hospital is too short staffed so I won’t get a bed because it isn’t as important
