Should you breastfeed your child for 2 years or more?

Breastfeeding is recognized as beneficial for your baby's health, but it is often frowned upon by our society when your baby is a few months or even 1 or 2 years old. What you need to know:

  • You don't risk increasing your child's dependency by breastfeeding longer, because breastfeeding also provides emotional security, which is essential to help your child become independent.
  • The WHO recommends breastfeeding for up to 2 years and even longer, depending on the wishes of the mother and child.
  • From the age of 6 months, you can introduce solid foods into your child's meals, in addition to breast milk.

My guy does 15 min at least on each side. Sometimes he’ll do 20-25 in the last boob but I think that’s just for comfort. He doesn’t need a bottle after nursing either.

Question: any breastfeeding moms? How long did you breastfeed? Or how long will you breastfeed your child? I breastfed my son for 2 1/2 years. My BF don’t won’t me to breastfeed our baby past 6months, this been an ongoing issue.🙄

I’m planning on at least 13 months since she was a month early. Unless my milk magically dries up or something changes my mind that’s the plan, probably longer if anything changes

Breastfeeding mommas, baby girl is almost 2 weeks now and I love breastfeeding but that first like 10-15 seconds after while she’s latching is hurtingg but i dont wanna stop so im just curious if anyone else had that problem and how long it took before it went away if it went away bc i love the bond of breastfeeding but i hate that feeling when she’s getting on the boob. while she’s feeding it feels fine tho.

So if my son isn’t latched correctly there’s like a pinching so readjust until the latch it correct. But if it’s a chapping/irritation issue try silverettes with earth mama nipple butter balm and definitely just wait it out it will go away

I stopped breastfeeding a month and a half ago and I can still express some breastmilk from them and they will still leak once in a while. How long does it take to dry up usually?

It can take a few weeks to a few months, I was thinking about doing this also. Does it feel better if you had discomfort when breastfeeding? My milk hurts so bad when it comes in and she’s already drinking 4-8 oz of formula a day.

it took a few days but it does feel better. I had to stop for my mental health, that's gotten much better too :)
