Pain-free delivery: myth or reality?

You've always heard about painless delivery, and now that the deadline is approaching for you, you're wondering if it's really possible to give birth to a baby without pain?

  • I might as well be honest… it's hard not to feel any pain at all…
  • Because even if the epidural is able to relieve the pain once injected, there is always a delay before it starts working after you've asked for it.
  • During that lapse of time, your cervix must start to dilate under the effect of the contractions, and you will feel pain before you start to be relieved by the anesthesia.
  • To sum it up, a pain-free delivery is difficult to achieve but, once you are in labor, the epidural will be able to relieve you completely!

Whoever started the "Braxton hicks are painless" were wrong. They are crampy and uncomfortable. Nothing like real contractions but it's not just tightening 😩

You need to rest and drink more water as well as a belly belt or maternity pants can help according to ob

Braxton hicks feel like the real deal to me, I had them a lot with my son and it killed and were close to the real labor but I have a very low pain tolerance. It could’ve been due to the condition I had that pregnancy. My second I thankfully didn’t have any Braxton hicks and I’m not sure yet if I will this time.

Baby girl still hasn’t got a name but she made her appearance at 10:59:55 on September 28th at a whopping 8.15 & pounds 22 inches long. 99 percentile for height and weight 😮‍💨 It was a calm painless labor but pushing was a immensely intense as I thought I was going to have maybe a 6lb baby at most.

Can Braxton hicks be painless? My stomach gets super hard but it doesn't hurt. So I'm not sure if it's my uterus contracting or just baby pushing on me. Anyone else?

It’s Braxton hicks for sure I get them and it does not hurt at all, just stay hydrated and it will reduce them!

What are y’all’s thoughts on natural water births? This is my second child and i had no issues with my first under a epidural. But I really want to experience this so called painless hypo birthing. Thoughts? Or expert advice welcomed…

I'm planning for a natural water birth at home, in my opinion hospitals try to rush the process and it ends up making birth much more painful. And epidural can cause complications. I just feel going natural in the comfort of my home will be best and give the least traumatic experience. This is my first time though so I guess I'll see how it goes

Baby girl is her! She arrived at 9:40 pm only took 30 minutes to get her out. She is 7 inches 12 ounces and 19 inches long. And the epidural made it painless.
