Natural Remedies for Morning Sickness: What Really Works?

Natural remedies for morning sickness: what really works?
If you're looking for natural remedies to manage your symptoms, you're in the right place. Here are some effective strategies to alleviate morning sickness:
Natural Remedies for Morning Sickness
  • Ginger: Ginger has been used for centuries to alleviate nausea. Ginger tea, ginger candies, or ginger supplements may help reduce morning sickness symptoms. Aim for 1-1.5 grams of ginger per day, but consult with your healthcare provider to ensure it's safe for you.
  • Vitamin B6: Taking vitamin B6 supplements has shown promising results in reducing nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. The recommended dosage is 25 mg three times a day, but consult your healthcare provider before starting any new supplements.
  • Acupressure: Applying pressure to certain acupressure points can help relieve nausea. You can try wristbands specifically designed for acupressure or consult with a trained acupuncturist.
  • Peppermint: Peppermint tea or peppermint oil aromatherapy may provide relief from morning sickness. However, avoid excessive consumption as high doses of peppermint can have adverse effects.
  • Small, Frequent Meals: Eating small, frequent meals throughout the day can help prevent an empty stomach, which can trigger nausea. Choose easily digestible foods like crackers, plain rice, or bananas.
  • Avoid Trigger Foods: Pay attention to foods or smells that trigger your symptoms and avoid them. Common triggers include spicy or greasy foods, strong odors, or foods with strong flavors.
  • Stay Hydrated: Sip on fluids throughout the day to prevent dehydration. Drinking water, herbal teas, or clear broths can help maintain hydration levels.
When to Seek Medical Advice
While natural remedies can be helpful for managing morning sickness, it's important to be aware of when to seek medical advice. Contact your healthcare provider if:
  • You experience severe and persistent vomiting that prevents you from keeping any food or fluids down.
  • You notice signs of dehydration such as dark urine, infrequent urination, dry mouth, dizziness, or lightheadedness.
  • You are losing weight or unable to gain weight during your pregnancy.
Your healthcare provider can provide further guidance and may recommend additional interventions, such as anti-nausea medications, if necessary.

If I’m being honest I’m not a big fan of medication. I’ve read online that there is a one percent chance of the medication causing cleft on babies.

I got the preggie pop candy. It helps. Something about the sour taste counteracts the nausea

What helps me with nausea is peppermint oil I just smell it whenever I feel like I need to throw up and that usually stops it I tried taking preggie pops and they didn’t work for me at all after that that’s when I tried out the oil and it’s been working for me ever since

Hi moms, Please read I just started getting morning sickness but it’s really bad. I’ve been throwing up basically all day but it’s straight bile or anything i try to eat. I’ve tried medicine, sleeping, massage, all the remedies to help me feel better but nothing works and I can’t keep anything down. Should I go to a urgent care?
