The way my HR manager explained it paid family leave is covered by the FLMA which allows any one who’s been working at a company for more than a year automatically 12 weeks ( I believe paid) off when they deliver their child. While maternity leave is considered by choice and does not have to be paid. And your job decides the amount of time you can be out before you give birth and they legally do not have to promise your job back due to not being covered through FLMA Hope that helps just got a new job a month ago and it definitely sucked to hear they’re only able to give me month off after my son is born ( I’m not gonna listen lol) But hope everything goes well with your maternal leave 💕

Ok when I was looking at the requirements it didn’t say anything about how long you’ve been on the job so does that part matter too or no?

Is there anybody else worried about maternity leave? My job doesn’t offer paid maternity leave but I can take it unpaid. I’m someone who has to work to keep the bills paid. Is there anybody else in the same situation and what have you decided to do ?

You can apply for disability or paid family leave through edd I believe, that's what I did with my 1st 2 daughters and what I plan to do this time.
