First Trimester Check-Ins

The Guide on Prenatal Visits during the First Trimester
Early prenatal care is crucial for setting the foundation for a healthy pregnancy, addressing concerns, and reducing the risk of complications.
The Initial Visit
During this visit, you can expect to discuss medical history, lifestyle and prenatal vitamins and due date calculation.
Follow-Up Visits
These visits are typically scheduled every four to six weeks. Here's what you can expect during these appointments:
Blood Pressure and Weight Check: Your healthcare provider will regularly monitor your blood pressure and weight to ensure they are within healthy ranges.
Listening to Your Baby's Heartbeat: At around 12 weeks, your provider may use a handheld Doppler device to listen to your baby's heartbeat for the first time. This is a magical moment.
Screening and Testing: Your provider may offer various screening tests during the first trimester, such as blood tests to assess your risk for chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome. They will explain the purpose and implications of these tests, empowering you to make informed decisions.
Discussing Common Pregnancy Concerns
Remember, no question is too trivial or silly.
Your healthcare provider is there to support you. Here are a few common topics to discuss:
Morning Sickness: If you're experiencing nausea or vomiting, your provider can suggest strategies to manage morning sickness and alleviate your discomfort. They may also discuss the use of anti-nausea medications if necessary.
Fatigue and Sleep Issues: Fatigue is common during the first trimester. Your provider can provide guidance on managing fatigue.
Emotional Well-being: Pregnancy hormones can sometimes lead to mood swings or emotional changes. Don't hesitate to discuss any emotional concerns or changes you're experiencing with your provider.

Last trimester feels so much like first trimester. Heavy eating, sickness, non-stop peeing, sore nipples, and sleepiness😮‍💨

Anybody else terrified that whenever they feel any wetness down there, you might go to check it and find lots of blood and find out you miscarried? Not sure why this is such a fear of mine, but I’m always so nervous to go wipe/check it out 🙈 I cannot wait to be past the first trimester so I can relax a bit more

I check 😂 I had a miscarriage 2 years ago I think I was about 7 weeks so any wetness I go right to the bathroom. Now I’m almost 11 weeks 🥰
