Can birth control affect a pregnancy test ?

So i have a question so I stoped take birth control in November and i haven’t missed a period since I’ve stoped .I’m three days late now and I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it said not pregnant. So can anyone tell me what I should do because I’m lost .

I’m ok birth control and I had symptoms but I toke a pregnancy test and it was negative but I’m still trying 🥺

I just read that breastfeeding can be birth control in a way because apparently you don't get a period when producing milk. Are there any moms out there that don't use anything to prevent pregnancy because they breast feed? I was going to ask my doctor for birth control but now I don't know if that's necessary?
