Baby's hair care

Your baby has delicate hair, fragile skin, and a sensitive scalp, which is why hair care should be done cautiously.

  • Choose a gentle (pH neutral), hypoallergenic shampoo that is suitable for your child's age.
  • Put a few drops on your child's head and lather with your hand.
  • Use a plastic container to rinse baby's hair.
  • Pat baby's head dry with a soft towel.
  • Comb your child's hair with a small, soft brush.
  • Repeat every 2-3 days to prevent cradle cap.

Omg I just finished dealing with cradle cap. I just did old school baby oil and his hair is starting to grow back as well as with every bath I wash his hair to stimulate that follicles.

Hey Mamas!! My little one is 7 weeks, mixed with white and black. I’m not very educated on how to care for his hair, but adamant to learn. Right now he has minimal hair, but the hair that he does have is VERY curly. Im very cautious about the ingredients I put in or on his body. Do y’all have any organic, plant-based, wholesome ingredient products that y’all recommend? Brush? Shampoo & conditioner? Leave-in? Oils? What’s y’all’s routines?

I'm using my breastmilk and jojoba oil right now. I used it with my son I think that's how he didnt go through the losing hair stage. I didn't use shampoo for the first month with my son and plan to do it that way with my daughter.

Okay, what’s the best hair care products for my mixed baby? I’ve only ever known shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, hairspray and gel. She has these little ringlet curls but the nurses keep brushing them out so she won’t get cradle cap. All I can find online is kids hair care but I don’t know if I can use kids hair products on my baby. Any advise?

Curls is a great brand. A little pricey but they deliver results and smells amazing. My son's hair is curly too but gets dry very quickly and that brand is the only brand I've found that works on his hair texture. I use it too. They have a baby and kids brand too.

White moms of black biracial children, please take the time to learn how to properly care for your child's skin and natural hair. And for the love of all that is sacred, DO NOT refer to the hair on that baby's head as nappy or not "good hair" just because the texture is different from yours and you can't be bothered to learn how to properly take care of it. Good hair does not translate to "low maintenance" for us. Good hair does not translate to "loose curls" for us. Good hair is healthy hair for us. Be careful how you talk to/ about your kids and their black features because, as parents, our words mean something to these kids. Don't be the one to break your child's spirit with willful ignorance. Take the time to learn for their sake. Please. I'm tired of seeing biracial kids made to be ashamed/hypercritical of who they are and where they came from because their white parents couldn't be bothered to learn the history, care, and culture of the people they chose to procreate with.

If white moms won't learn how to do their biracial kids' hair, I find that very neglectful and lazy!!

It sure is. And it's sad how often I see these kids talking about it in retrospect online. It's surprisingly common especially back in the day. These kids are subjected to all kinds of chemical and heat damage for no reason other than their white parents couldn't be bothered to learn a damn thing and think laying with a black person was enough to show they're a good person who gives a damn about black people! That mess can really mess with a kid's mental...

Mamas!!! My baby boy is going to be biracial. His dad is black and I am white. I am guessing his hair will be mixed bouncy coil curls. Any tips on how to take care of his care and what products to use and not use? He’s going to be a summer baby.

grease and oil if he has a more dry texture, if it’s looser curls when he gets older a moisturizing lotion would be great

Anyone else prepping themselves like getting their hair done, etc. a few weeks before baby comes? I know I’m not going to have any energy/time to do all that when she comes and I want to at least look and feel good while taking care of a newborn 😂
