Tips for travelling by car during pregnancy

Can you travel in the car when you're pregnant? Yes, let's roll! Here are our tips for safety.

  • Buckle up! The lower strap should be placed as low as possible, below your belly, so it won't compress it.
  • Place a small cushion at the bottom of your back to reduce back pain.
  • Avoid long trips, as you should not stay still.
  • Take breaks every hour to walk.
  • Watch out for jolts that can cause contractions.
  • Drink water regularly and pack snacks if your energy level drops.

How early did you car travel long distance with your newborn? before a month? After a month? Hubby and I are considering driving to our parents house 2 hours away with our one week old newborn. Just more on the nervous side… what are your experiences if any?

I wouldnt simply because covid has spiked up. Make everyone take a test day of arrival. Other than that I don't see why not

I would say sleep if you can , my first pregnancy the car sickness was horrible it didn’t matter if we went just 20 minutes away from the house , I still would get sick to my stomach 😫.

When I flew, I used those anti-nausea acupressure seabands, took dramamine, put drops of tea tree oil in a face mask, and drank ice cold water 🙌

The 24 hr Dramamine nausea would probley work for that, though it would knock you out on the plane which may be good depending on if you want to sleep through the flight, I'd just take only one a while before so it has time to kick in and depending on how long the flight is maybe only take a half a one. Maybe also ask your OB if they can give you anything to help with the plane sickness and keep your nausea down.

As long as you're comfortable with it, go for it.❤️

Yes. Just watch for swelling and take breaks to get out of the car and walk around for a bit.

I'll be moving to Nebraska from Florida and I want to know if anyone has traveled with a preemie baby before in a car. And if so what did you do to make the travel easier for them?!? #travelingmomma #preemiebaby #stressingout

I'm following because I've got a 7 week old who doesn't do well for just a 30 minute carseat ride, and will be taking a trip next weekend that's around 4.5-5 hours one way.
